Sheriff Joe Arpaio gets 100,000 signatures of support

The Democrats and mainstream media, led by the White House, have it out for Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, but real Americans have his back.

Gateway Pundit – Grassfire Nation presented Sheriff Joe Arpaio with a stack of 100,000 signatures of support. The petition says that the Holder Department of Justice investigation was nothing more than a political attack on the popular sheriff.

World Net Daily reported:

Officials with Grassfire Nation, a key coordinating group for tea-party-type activities and issues, say the Department of Justice’s investigation of Maricopa, Ariz., County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is nothing more than a political attack.

And to offer encouragement to the sheriff, Darla Dawald, representing the Grassfire Nation group, has presented Arpaio with a petition of some 100,000 signatures from people who have declared their support for the law-enforcement officer.

Grassfire Nation supports the Patriot Action Network, which calls itself the “nation’s largest conservative social action network, involving tens of thousands of citizens,” including many tea party members.

The petition demands DOJ prove its accusations that Arpaio’s office has engaged in a policy to systematically violate the civil rights of Hispanics, which WND has reported DOJ refuses to do.

The petition claims the DOJ investigation is nothing more than a baseless, politically motivated attack on Arpaio.

Bravest sheriff update

I wrote first here and then here about Marisol Valles-Garcia, the young woman and mother of one who took over sheriff duties in the terror-wracked border town of Praxedis G. Guerrero in Mexghanistan.

In the last post I wrote about the rumor that the 20-year old sheriff had fled for her life, and that she might be seeking asylum in the U.S..

According to Fox News, the rumor has been confirmed, and that the young women is currently in America seeking asylum.

Fox writes that according to city officials Garcia was granted a leave of absence from March 2–7 to travel to the U.S. for personal matters, but she failed to return as agreed. The town’s mayor removed her from the post on Monday.

Residents of Praxedis said that Valles-Garcia had received threats against her life, and there may even have been an attempt to kidnap her.

Buena suerte, Señorita Garcia. Maybe you can run for Sheriff Dupe-nik’s job!

(FOX News via Weasel Zippers) — A young police chief who fled a violent Mexican border town is now seeking asylum in the United States, has learned.

Marisol Valles-Garcia, 20, made international headlines last year when she accepted the post as top law enforcement official of Praxedis G. Guerrero in October. The town had been without a police chief since her predecessor was shot to death in July 2009.

Garcia was granted a leave of absence from March 2–7 to travel to the U.S. for personal matters, but she failed to return as agreed, city officials said. The town’s mayor removed her from the post on Monday.

Officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Garcia is now seeking asylum in the United States following death threats she received in Mexico.

“Marisol Valles-Garcia is in the United States and she will have the opportunity to present the facts of her case before an impartial immigration judge,” a statement to from DHS officials read. “Absent a signed privacy waiver, there are no additional details.”

A local official accompanied the police chief last week to the international bridge connecting El Porvenir to Fort Hancock, Tex., according to Human Rights Commission official Gustavo de la Rosa Hickerson.

De la Rosa Hickerson said Monday that he still had not been able to reach her and did not know where she was. He added that he would ask officials to retract their dismissal of the young chief.

“I have the impression that this position by the mayor is a bit hasty,” he said. “Because right now Marisol needs support, and one way to be supportive is to leave her in office.”

De la Rosa Hickerson said residents of Praxedis told him Valles-Garcia had received threats against her life, and there may even have been an attempt to kidnap her.

Drug violence has transformed the township of about 8,500 people from a string of quiet farming communities into a lawless no man’s land. Two rival gangs — the Juarez and Sinaloa drug cartels — are battling over control of its single highway, a lucrative drug-trafficking route along the Texas border.

Police will answer to the mayor until a new chief is appointed, the city government’s statement said.

Brave young Mexghanistan woman sheriff rumored to have fled

Marisol Valles Garcis - Sheriff

You might recall the story I posted on Feb. 18, the ‘Bravest Woman in Mexghanistan’, about Marisol Valles Garcia, the 20-year old woman and mother of one who took her first job as chief of police in one of Mexghanistan’s deadliest towns.

Her predecessor’s head was left outside the police station over a year ago, and no one wanted to fill the vacancy since.

She’s back in the news. Ms. Garcia is rumored to have fled the city of Praxedis G. Guerrero amid mounting threats to her life.

The AFP is reporting relatives of Ms. Valles Garcia have said that the young police chief has left Mexico for the US to seek asylum. She has purportedly been receiving death threats from criminal gangs who wanted her to work for them.

However, town officials are denying reports that Valles Garcia has fled her post. CBS is reporting that town Secretary Andres Morales told the El Paso Times that the police chief was taking personal leave to be with her child and would return on Monday.

I hope she has fled, and so saved her life and that of her child. The people she is up against down there are ruthless monsters, evil-incarnate, and this gentle, naive young lady is way over her head. She has shown guts, but she must show smarts, and get while she still can.

She would be in good company. According to the Christian Science Monitor:

Last year, drug gangs told residents of Praxedis G. Guerrero… they had until Easter Sunday to leave town. About 50 houses were burned and one-third of the population left for good.

Praxedis G. Guerrero is located in the Juarez Valley just south of the Rio Grande. The region has witnessed a mass exodus in recent years due to drug related violence. Census estimates for the region indicate a population decline of up to 45 percent since 2005.

As for the issue of her seeking asylum in the U.S., that doesn’t seem necessary. She should be able to relocate elsewhere in Mexico, a very big country, and under a new name and identity, if needed. But, even if she were to get asylum in America, she at least, would be doing so legally, and educated and hardworking that she is, she could be an asset to America.

For more on her, see my earlier post.

The bravest woman in Mexghanistan

A 20-year old woman and mother of one took her first job as chief of police in one of Mexghanistan’s deadliest towns. Her predecessor’s head was left outside the police station over a year ago, and no one wanted to fill the vacancy since.

Last year alone, over 13,000 people were killed in violent attacks, over 28,000 in the past few years. Mexico goes through sheriffs and police faster than Obama goes through allies.

Marisol Valles Garcia is stepping in between two rival gangs – the Juarez and Sinaloa drug cartels – who have been battling for control of a single highway, a lucrative drug trafficking route along the Texas border.

Drug gangs take over at night, riding through the towns in convoys of SUVs and pickups, assault rifles and even .50 caliber sniper rifles at the ready. The assistant mayor of nearby El Porvenir and the mayor of Distrito Bravos were killed recently even after they took refuge in nearby Ciudad Juarez.

She has been assigned two bodyguards but won’t carry a gun.

I hate to think of what will likely become of her. You might recall a story not long back about another woman who took on the job of sheriff in a Mexghanistan town. She remained alive for 2 months. She, too, didn’t carry a gun, and was fond of saying, “If you don’t owe anything, you don’t fear anything.” Maybe so, but the animals who shot her up weren’t so philosophical.

Chief of police and bodyguards murdered in Mexghanistan

Sheriff Manuel Farfan Carriola

Not long after clueless Janet Incompetano declared that it was it is a big fat lie “that the border is overrun with violence and out of control”, chief of police and retired army general in the Mexican border city of Nuevo Laredo, Manuel Farfan Carriola, was assassinated on his way home from work. 4 bodyguards and several police officers were also wounded in the gunfight with the assailants.

More than 34,000 Mexicans have been killed in drug-related violence since December 2006.

Arizona Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu disagrees with Incompetano. But who are you going to believe, an Arizona sheriff who sees the border hell every single day, or a Liberal hack who has been proven to be both dangerously foolish and wrong on every issue she has ever held forth on?

Real sheriff Arpaio rounds up 83 criminals and illegals

While phony Democrat hack sheriff, Dupe-nik has been making a jackass out of himself, real Arizona sheriff, Joe Arpaio keeps doing the job Arizonans hired him to do, sticking bad guys in jail, and rounding up illegals.

Lask week, Arpaio continued cleaning up the mess caused by the feckless and corrupt U.S. government.

USA Today reports that Arpaio nabbed 83 people during a two-day crime sweep, 68 of whom were illegal immigrants.

The sheriff’s office seized 725 pounds of marijuana and some methamphetamine during the operation, which ended Friday. It was the office’s 18th such sweep.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio says his office’s 17 previous sweeps resulted in more than 1,000 arrests. He said a recent rise in the number of human smuggling arrests prompted another sweep.

Egyptian policeman rampages on train, kills one 1 Christian, wounds 5 others – Sheriff Dupnik blames Rush Limbaugh

More trouble for Egypt’s Coptic Christian community. Coming on the heals of the Alexandria bombing on Coptic Christians New Year’s Day 2011, that killed at least 32 people and wounded some 97 others, a policemen went into jihad mode and began shooting at civilians on a train in Cairo.

Witnesses say the lone gunman had sought out Christians on board the train and shouted  Allahu Akbar while carrying out his attack. “Seeing a group of girls and women who were not wearing the (Islamic) veil, he took them for Christians and fired, shouting Allahu Akbar.”

The assailant’s name was not Jared Loughner, and he didn’t read the Communist Manifesto, smoke pot, listen to heavy metal music, ramble incoherently abut English grammar, or have a homemade altar with a human skull on top. He did, however, read the Koran, listen to talks by his favorite Imam’s on his iPod, and probably did burn an Israeli flag or two in his day.

Say It Ain’t So reached Pima County Sheriff Dupnik for comment on the attack. “Clearly there is a climate of hate in Egypt,” he said. “Cairo receives Rush Limbaugh on shortwave radio.”

CAIRO — A policeman shot dead a Christian on a train in Egypt Tuesday and wounded five other people, including the man’s wife, as tensions remain high after a New Year’s church bombing killed 21 people, the interior ministry said.

The shooter’s motives were not immediately clear, but the ministry said at least four of the five people hurt were Coptic Christians.

And a Coptic bishop told AFP that the gunman, named by the ministry as Amer Ashur Abdel Zaher, had sought out Christians on board the train and shouted a Muslim slogan — Allahu Akbar (God is greatest) — as he opened fire.

The policeman, who was said to be on his way to work, boarded a stationary Cairo-bound train at Samalut, in the southern Minya province, and began shooting with his service weapon, the ministry said.

He killed Fathi Said Ebeid, aged 71, and wounded his 61-year-old wife. Two of the others wounded were said to be in critical condition.

The policeman, who was not in uniform, got off the train after the attack and tried to flee but was arrested inside the station. He was being questioned by the authorities to find out if he carried out the attack for religious reasons.

Bishop Morcos, who serves with the Coptic church in Samalut, said he had spoken to witnesses after the shooting. “This lunatic went up and down the coach looking for Christians,” the bishop recounted what he was told. “Seeing a group of girls and women who were not wearing the (Islamic) veil, he took them for Christians and fired, shouting Allahu Akbar.”

Real sheriff Arpaio vs. hack sheriff Dupnik

Yo, Dupnik. Pull my finger.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who has had unprecedented approval ratings from the people of Maricopa County, Arizona, for most of the past 18 years, responded on O’Reilly to the hypocrisy of the dupidist sheriff in the west, Sheriff Clarence Dupnik of Pima County. Dupnik has accused right-wing media, and especially Rush Limbaugh, of inciting violence and being the underlining cause of pot-smoking, Marx-reading, flag-burning, leftist lunatic Loughner’s heinous and merciless rampage.

In the interview, Arpaio speaks about how he receives death threats almost daily, and how he and his men are constantly menaced by Democrats.

Yet, he points out, that Dupnik – who knew very well what the Left was doing to Arpaio – never said a word about it. Likewise, neither has anyone in the mainstream media. The media has never expressed a drop of outrage at the actions of the radicals whom they know try to terrorize Arpaio.

But, unlike Dupe-nik, Sheriff Arpaio is a mensch and shrugs it off. He understands the new normal and the hypocrisy which flourishes in it. He says it all goes with the job, and that he doesn’t care. “I’m going to continue to work hard. They can put that in their pipes and smoke it.”

UPDATE: Michelle Malkin has an excellent piece explaining why Dupnik is: The Worst Sheriff in America

Sheriff Democrat Dupe-nik: the dupidest sheriff in the west

Sheriff Democrat Dupe-nik has been busy disgracing his badge, his county, his State, and the American people. Sheriff Clarence Dupnik of Pima County, Arizona, has put himself front and center with his baseless accusations about people like Rush Limbaugh while making a stink about hate speech.

Naturally, long-time journalist hack, Tom Brokaw, was one of the first out the gate to applaud Dupe-nik and offer him encouragement. As Newsbusters reports:

…Brokaw thought officials have been “timid” in their criticism of violent political speech, in the wake of Saturday’s shooting. “The Pima County Sheriff is not,” he continued. “He is speaking out, and too few others have because they’re worried about retribution.”

Call me 'the Dupe' for short.

What is Dupe-nik speaking out against? Mostly Rush Limbaugh, and anyone who is critical of Dupe-nik’s fellow Democrat policies. For video and the story of the rest of the Democrat state-run media embarrassing themselves go here.

Sheriff Democrat Dupe-nik may well be shooting himself in the foot. Some are rightly wondering, ‘what did Dupnik know, and when did he know it?’

What sheriff records of young, demented, flag-burning, Leftist and pothead, Jared Loughner, might Dupnik be aware of. After all, Dupnik admitted that Loughner had made prior death threats against some other, unnamed person. James Taranto, of The Wall Street Journal has raised his eyebrow on Hannity.

via Gateway Pundit

“I’d like to make one additional point on Sheriff Dupnik. I think we’re missing the point when we’re talking about his political agenda. This man and this suspect has had previous contact with the sheriff’s office. It looks to me, we don’t have many details on this, but it looks as though he slipped between the cracks. I think what we really need to look into is what happened when he had previous contact with the sheriff’s office with their negligence here. And, I think the sheriff is trying to distract from that question.”

At a site called Cholla Jumps comes this accusation:

Jared Loughner has been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When Pima County Sheriff’s Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County.

Blogger Doug Ross breaks the story down. After establishing the connections, he says, “The question arises, in part because of the sheriff’s odd behavior: did the fact that one or both parents worked in local government allow them to “pull strings” to protect a troubled child?”

He concludes with, “Perhaps some “professional journalists” could actually “investigate” this matter if they could take time away from inventing new lies about Sarah Palin.”

Sorry, Doug, but that would mean actually having to earn their bloated salaries.

Jared Loughner

Meanwhile, a friend of Loughner’s, Bryce Tierney, opened up and gave an interview about his pal, confirming again that Loughner was a very troubled fellow who was obsessed with Giffords since 2007 when he met the congresswoman at a rally.

Over at City Journal, the great Andrew Klavan writes about “The Hateful Left: Where incendiary political rhetoric truly resides in America”

But while little useful can be said about the murders themselves, the rush to narrative of our dishonest and increasingly desperate leftist media does have to be addressed. The Left—which has been unable to discover any common feature uniting acts of Islamist violence worldwide—nonetheless instantly noticed a bridge between the Tucson shooting and its own political opponents. The Chicago Sun-Times ran a slavering editorial blaming “the right.” MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann and theWashington Post’s Eugene Robinson suggested that the killings were inspired by right-wing rhetoric. Politico’s Roger Simon did the same.

[…] But all that might be tolerable to leftists if they weren’t starting to lose control of the one weapon in which they have the most faith: the narrative. The narrative is what leftists believe in instead of the truth. If they can blame George W. Bush for the economic crisis, if they can make Sarah Palin out to be an idiot, if they can call the Tea Party racist until you think it must be true, they might yet retain power in spite of the international disgrace of their ideas. And though they still mostly dominate the narrative on the three broadcast networks, most cable stations, most newspapers, and much of Hollywood, nonetheless Fox News, talk radio, the Internet, and the Wall Street Journalhave begun to respond in ways they can’t ignore….

Yes, the hypocrisy of the Left never fails to stun. As always, among those who never fails to humiliate himself, either, is the slobbering, always brain-addled Chris Matthews.

(Breitbart) via Weasel Zippers

After the Ft. Hood shooting, Chris Matthews went out of his way to find reasons other than radical Islam for the shooting. And he had a representative of CAIR on his show for the express purpose of keeping people from jumping to conclusions about the Muslims.

Today, in stark contrast, Mr. Matthews assigned motive and direct cause for the Tucson shooting (on the right).

To round off the coverage, Atlas Shrug’s Pamella Geller, published her own exposé reminder of the Left’s long, filthy, and sordid love affair with hate – The Face of Hate. She includes many photos and remarks that the state-run media either forgot or entirely ignored. Usually the latter.

It’s a good compliment to Michelle Malkin’s piece yesterday, The progressive “climate of hate:” An illustrated primer, 2000-2010″.

The final word goes to Rush Limbaugh, who, along with Sarah Palin, has been most singled out by the Leftist state-run media for attack.
