Report: U.N.’s Ban Ki-moonbat invites Obama to join Ahmadinejad and Egypt’s Morsi for VIP lunch

If so, wouldn’t that be dandy? It would be like Roosevelt having a VIP lunch with Hitler and Mussolini. I seriously doubt this would come to pass. Not down the homestretch of election season, anyway. But I’m sure Obama and his State Department 5th column will ask for a rain check, as Obama did with Mednevev.

Arutz Sheva – Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi will meet Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at next month’s U.N. General Assembly in New York, diplomatic sources say.

In addition, U.N. General-Secretary Ban Ki-moon has invited President Obama to join the two leaders at a VIP lunch on Sept. 25, the opening day of the General Assembly, The Washington Times reported.

Iranian official Mohammad Reza Forqani dismissed the speculations saying, “Publishing such a report by the Washington Times daily is a media commotion,” the Fars News Agency reported.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not attend the assembly, but will send Defense Minister Ehud Barak in his stead.

Meanwhile, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to pursue statehood recognition when he addresses the assembly on Sept. 29. Though not a member of the U.N., Abbas is being treated as an unofficial leader of a de facto state.

British Prime Minister David Cameron, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda, South African President Jacob Zuma are also expected to attend, according to a list obtained by The Washington Times.

According to the report, notable absentees include Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Hu Jintao, both of whom have vetoed U.N. Security Council resolutions for stronger action against Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Pakistani President Ali Zadari and Afghan President Hamid Karzai also will not attend the assembly.

UN chosen as a member overseeing arms treaty conference

The farce that is the United Nations continues. The world will never know either peace or freedom as long as this collection of thieves, terrorists, and tyrants is in business. I’d vote for the first presidential candidate to make America’s swift and permanent exit from the UN one of his or her top three priorities.

(CNSNews.com) – Iran has been chosen as a member of the “bureau” overseeing a month-long United Nations conference in New York aimed at finalizing a controversial global “arms trade treaty.”

The move, which came as the conference got underway last week but received virtually no attention, is the latest example of Iran taking up leadership positions at the United Nations despite its defiance of Security Council resolutions relating to its nuclear program.

Furthermore, according to an expert panel monitoring U.N. sanctions on Iran, Tehran continues to flout a Security Council ban on exporting its weaponry, with Syria the main recipient.

“This is like choosing Bernie Madoff to police fraud on the stock market,” said Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch, a non-governmental monitoring group based in Geneva, which drew attention to Iran’s elevation to the conference bureau.

UN Watch is urging U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to condemn the move:

“He should remind the conference that the Security Council has imposed four rounds of sanctions on Iran for refusing to halt its prohibited nuclear program, and that Iran continues to defy the international community through illegal arms shipments to the murderous Assad regime,” Neuer said.

Syria aiming for a seat on UN Human Rights Council, candidacy “virtually assured”

Nothing is too shameless or absurd for the United Nations.

‘Syria’s candidacy would be virtually assured of victory,’ according to UN watchdog group.

Times of Israel – Even as reports of massacres and widespread torture in Syria continue to surface daily, the country is a serious contender for a seat on the United Nations Human Rights Council, according to a UN watchdog group.

From a US-sponsored and EU-backed draft resolution debated Wednesday in Geneva, it emerged that Syria is vying for a seat on the council starting 2014, UN Watch reported. Although Damascus’s brutal crackdown on protesters — which has already cost the lives of at least 10,000 people — has been widely condemned by the international community, including Arab and Muslim nations, it is not unlikely that Syria would win its bid.

“As part of the UN’s 53-nation Asian group, Syria’s candidacy would be virtually assured of victory due to the prevalent system of fixed slates, whereby regional groups orchestrate uncontested elections, naming only as many candidates as allotted seats,” the pro-Israel watchdog group wrote on its website.

Elections to the UNHRC, which includes 47 nations, take place in 2013 at the United Nations General Assembly.

Fearing that Syria could indeed win a spot on the UNHRC, the US and Europe have taken an unusual step by demanding the council declare Syria ineligible for a seat. Condemning President Bashar Assad’s regime for the “indiscriminate targeting of civilians” and other crimes and human rights violations, their draft resolution “stresses that the current Syrian’s government’s announced candidacy for the Human Rights Council in 2014 fails to meet the standards for Council membership.”

But the attempt to keep Syria from running is being met with heavy opposition by countries such as China, Cuba and Egypt, according to UN Watch. Russia and India argued that no action should be taken before Syria has formally submitted its candidacy, the group reported, adding that Damascus was unanimously elected last year to two human rights committees of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

While even many Arab states have spoken out against the violence in Syria, with the Arab League suspending Assad membership in November, some experts say that Damascus could still be voted into the UNHRC, because of backroom deals and the fear that some day Syria could seek revenge and vote against other countries’ applications. Video: UN Watch’s Hillel Neuer confronts “Palestine Expert” Richard Falk for his support of racists, terrorists, and 9/11 conspiracists

Get a load of the kind of crap that is thrown at Israel every day in that joke called the United Nations.

First we get to hear the representatives for a bunch of vicious totalitarian regimes condemn Israel. This nauseating display of human idiocy is followed by UN Watch director Hillel Neuer who confronts “UN Palestine Expert” Richard Falk for his support of racists, terrorists, and 9/11 conspiracists.

The world will never know either peace or freedom as long as the disgraceful United Nations is still in business.

Video: The UN’s blatant bias and its war on Israel

Short but to the point. The video recounts a number of UN actions and inactions that resulted in Israeli deaths and the ensuring of war.

The UN is the most corrupt institution on the planet, and that’s saying something. The world will never know peace, prosperity, or liberty as long as this den of malevolent miscreants is allowed to continue to inject its poison into the world.

Jun 26, 2012 by – This video described the dishonest attitude of the United Nations towards the State of Israel and the discrimination Israel faces by the international community. Since the founding of the State of Israel, it has experienced unfair treatment in warfare, in protection, and in standards of human rights.

UN funneling million$ worth of tradable carbon credits to corrupt nations, including Iran, N. Korea, Sudan…

Good grief, absurdity upon absurdity.

The corrupt, evil to the core UN is funneling millions of dollars worth of phony, make-believe “carbon credits” to the most wicked regimes on the planet. The man-made global warming scam has reached a new level of lunacy, and there is not one nation in the world willing to call them on it.

The Chinese government, an aggressive host for CDM projects, has manipulated the system, going so far as to re-open defunct factories in order to get Europeans to pay them to close them again.

Free Beacon – The U.N. is funneling millions of dollars worth of tradable carbon credits to corrupt nations worldwide, including Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Uzbekistan in an attempt to encourage clean energy projects in the developing world.

The U.N. Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is defined in Article 12 of the Kyoto Protocol. Western European countries fund energy projects in the developing world in order to obtain Certified Emission Reduction credits (CERs), tradable credits that enable Europeans to count foreign emission reductions towards their own domestic emission reduction targets.

“The CDM started from a page and a half in the Kyoto Protocol,” said David Abbass, a spokesperson for the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change. “In the beginning they thought there would be maybe 600 projects, but now there are over 4,000 projects.”

Iran, Uzbekistan, Sudan, and North Korea are among the more than 70 countries currently hosting CDM projects.

Iran, with 16 separate CDM projects, brings in around 4.8 million CERs, worth about $26 million, every year, despite numerous U.N. sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Uzbekistan, dominated for the last two decades by the autocratic Islam Karimov, hosts 20 different CDM projects, with a combined annual value of over 7.5 million CERs, or roughly $40 million.

Sudan, whose president Omar Hassan al-Bashir came to power via military coup over 20 years ago and is wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes in Darfur, is on the receiving end of two different CDM projects, with a combined annual value of over 180,000 CERs, or almost $1 million.

North Korea is hosting seven hydroelectric dams, which may generate over $1 million in CERs annually.

North Korea, Sudan, and Uzbekistan are among the 10 most corrupt nations worldwide, according to Transparency International’s 2011 Corruption Perceptions Index.

It is unsurprising that North Korea is using U.N. money to develop its own infrastructure, said Claudia Rosett, journalist-in-residence at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

“One of the first questions with any U.N. program is, ‘Who is overseeing this?’” said Rosett. “Very often no one is.”  (more >>>)

Video: UN Watch – 20-year-old torture victim confronts Syria at the UN

The UN, don’t forget, elected Syria to UNESCO’s human rights committee

UN Watch – When Syria and its allies Russia, China and Cuba told lies to the recent UN Human Rights Council session on the Al-Houleh massacre, UN Watch brought 20-year-old torture victim Hadeel Kouki to tell the truth. The delegates—several of whom privately thanked UN Watch for contributing dramatic first-person testimony to the debate—in the end voted for a firm condemnation of the Assad regime.

UN Watch – Thank you, Madam President.

My name is Hadil Kouki, and I am a 20-year-old exile from Hasake, Syria.

On March 10, 2011, I was arrested by the regime for distributing pro-democracy leaflets at my university in Aleppo. I was thrown in jail for forty days.

In August, and again in October, I was arrested for bringing medical supplies. I was thrown back in prison for another forty days. I was tortured, and abused.

The massacre in El-Houleh was clearly an act of the Assad regime. The village where some 130 people were brutally murdered has been known from the beginning of the revolution as one of the most vibrant centers in the struggle for a free and democratic Syria.

I personally knew some of the people who were murdered. Fatima, only 25 years old, was my friend at Aleppo university, where she was studying history. She and her two infant daughters were found decapitated in their house in El-Houleh. Her son’s body was found with his arms and legs cut off.

Fatima’s husband Mohamed was killed by Assad’s forces two months earlier, when he tried to shield peaceful demonstrators from deadly bullets. This is further proof that the people of El-Houleh were massacred for their opposition to the Assad regime.

Madam President, I ask:

Can the people behind such atrocities really be trusted to carry out the Annan Plan to end violence?

Second: How is it that at least three of the governments which shield Assad, and aid his mass murder, are allowed to sit here on this council of human rights?

Third: Why did the United Nations recently elected Syria to UNESCO’s human rights committee? What kind of signal does this send? When will this council demand that Assad be removed?

Madam President, I wish to thank those friendly governments that have provided vital aid to me and many other victims. But as we speak, my people are being killed. The time to act is now.

Thank you.

49% of likely voters say the UN stinks to high hell

How come the UN is never an issue in political races? I maintain that if a politician ran with a major plank of his or her platform the defunding or abandonment of the UN, it would draw great enthusiasm. The United Nations is the most evil and corrupt international organization on the planet. It has virtually no achievement it can point to (with pride without lying about it). No terrorist or tyranny has a better friend than the UN.

And yet, the Obama Administration wants to hand over more power and legitimacy to this putrid cesspool.

Rasmussen – Voters are a little less enthusiastic about the United Nations these days.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 42% of Likely U.S. Voters now view the international organization at least somewhat favorably. However, slightly more (49%) share at least a somewhat unfavorable opinion of it. This includes 10% with a Very Favorable view and 24% with a Very Unfavorable one. Another 10% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Must see new documentary: U.N. Me

A must see new documentary by the excellent Ami Horowitz.

Ami exposes the corruption, hypocrisy, and waste of billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars on the most vile, farcical and feckless organization ever conceived of by man. And he does so with a lot of laughs.

May 7, 2012 by U.N. Me will launch June 1st in select theaters and nationwide through video on demand

(from the website) – In a film that exposes the incompetence and corruption at the heart of the United Nations, filmmaker Ami Horowitz takes us on a harrowing, yet often hilarious, trip through the farcical world of the United Nations.

Horowitz exposes how an organization created to ennoble mankind actually enables chaos and global discord. As disturbing as the picture painted by U.N. Me may be, Horowitz manages to keep us laughing throughout the film. And just when you’re left shaking your head at one outrage or another exposed in U.N. Me, Horowitz reliably enters with comic relief.

UN appoints Zimbabwe’s mass murderering dictator Mugabe as new international envoy for tourism

The absurdity that is the United Nations marches on.

Guardian (h/t Weasel Zippers) — With a line-up that includes Drew Barrymore, David Beckham, Orlando Bloom, and Ricky Martin, the UN’s choice of ambassadors has been known to cause raised eyebrows or the odd smirk.

Seldom, however, has there been such anger, or questioning of the organisation’s credibility, as that greeting the appointment of a new international envoy for tourism: Robert Mugabe.

Improbable as it seems, the Zimbabwean president, who is widely accused of ethnic cleansing, rigging elections, terrorising opposition, controlling media and presiding over a collapsed economy, has been endorsed as a champion of efforts to boost global holidaymaking.

Despite that fact Mugabe, 88, is under a travel ban, he has been honoured as a “leader for tourism” by the UN’s World Tourism Organisation, along with his political ally, Zambian president Michael Sata, 75. The pair signed an agreement with UNWTO secretary general Taleb Rifai at their shared border at Victoria Falls on Tuesday.

U.N. Chief Ban Ki-moon wants universal access to abortion for teenage girls

Because the UN has always favored genocide in whatever way they can get it. And, of course, it is American taxpayers who should pay the lion’s share.

(CNSNews.com) — United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said Monday that millions of girls — teenagers and younger — need access to abortion and contraceptives in order to “avoid unintended pregnancies, unsafe abortions and sexually transmitted infections.”

“Sixteen million adolescent girls become mothers every year, and every day, more than 2,000 young people contract HIV,” Ban said. “We have a collective responsibility to drive these numbers down.”

Ban said the nations of the world must provide “reproductive health care” — i.e, access to abortion and contraceptives — for young people, as well as give them “access to the necessary information and the means to protect themselves from sexual abuse and violence.”

Ban, quoting from a United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) report, said “an estimated 3 million unsafe abortions took place in developing countries among girls aged 15 to 19 in 2008.”   Keep reading…

Pat Condell Video: Israel and the “disgusting travesty” known as the United Nations

Pat takes another brave position on Israel, and delivers a blistering smack-down of the venomous snake pit known as the United Nations, “an embarrassing disgrace and an insult to humanity…a crooked court full of hanging judges.”

Like a majority of Americans, Mr. Condell wonders why the hell the U.S. even allows “this disgusting travesty,” on American soil; suggesting that the putrid open sore better belongs in Tehran or Islamabad where they can pass all the stinking resolutions they like.

on Apr 10, 2012

On the video’s YouTube page, Pat posts links to dozens of articles backing up his words. A glance at the comment section, however, is even better at pointing out the degree of filth and blind hatred of those Condell castigates, proving his point that Isamists and Leftists are deranged sociopaths.

Israel tells UN Human Rights Council to go probe themselves, cuts all ties

“If anyone from the council calls us, we just won’t answer the phone.”

According to the story, Israel hopes to get the U.S. on board. That’s a knee-slapper. Not with Imam Obama and his cabal of merry Islamic sycophants in the White House.

Times of Israel – Israel is cutting off all relations with the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Foreign Ministry announced on Monday. The move comes as a response to the council’s decision last Thursday to establish a fact-finding mission into Israel’s settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, a decision that was condemned by the government.

“We’re stopping all and any cooperation with the council,” a senior Foreign Ministry official said Monday, hours after the ministry’s senior staff decided on the step. “From now on, we will no longer work together in any way, shape or form with any officials from the council, including the High Commissioner” of the Human Rights Council, Navi Pillay, said the senior official. “If anyone from the council calls us, we just won’t answer the phone.”

The source also said Israel would try encourage other countries, especially the US to abandon the Geneva-based body, but acknowledged it would be difficult to do so.

Israel accuses the council of having a pronounced anti-Israel bias because of its disproportionate focus on Israeli policy and actions toward the Palestinians. Israel says the council has ignored human rights abuses in countries such as Iran and Arab nations.

The source said that Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman stood behind his description of the Palestinians’ attempt to pressure Israel through international forums as “diplomatic terrorism,” a saying that has drawn criticism even by Foreign Ministry officials.

The source also said Lieberman said it was time to rethink Israel’s policies regarding the Palestinians, but did not give additional details of what form a new policy would take.

UN Human Rights Council passes 5 anti-Israel resolutions in one day – Netanyahu slams hypocrisy

It’s always so tempting to just write off the UN as a joke, only no one ever laughs, except for the soulless scum who infests that den of venality and corruption.

Stinking loser countries Norway, Switzerland, Belgium and Austria voted in favor of the fact-finding mission, as did China, India and Russia.

Cowardly crap countries Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Moldavia, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Cameroon abstained.

Only the U.S. voted against it, and probably only because it’s an election year. The Obama Administration would have loved to join the chorus, but they figure they’ll have plenty more opportunities come 2013…

Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said, “The U.S. should finally leave that rogues’ gallery and seek credible alternative forums to advance human rights.”

If only…

The United Nations is the single greatest threat to world peace. Worse than any one country. It is the combined ignorance and evil of all the malevolent countries on the planet. The Islamonazis use it as the spearhead for all their diabolical actions.

Times of Israel – The UN Human Rights Council passed five resolutions against Israel on Thursday, including one resolution calling for a UN investigation into Israeli settlements, triggering fierce reactions from Israeli and American diplomats.

Thirty-six countries voted in favor of the resolution condemning Israel’s settlement policy and calling on Israel ”to reverse the settlement policy in the occupied territories,” as a first step towards dismantling all of the Jewish communities in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Golan Heights.

The resolution also called upon the Israeli government to adopt stricter measures against settlers, including the “confiscation of arms and enforcement of criminal sanctions,” in order to protect Palestinians.

The Pakistani envoy presenting the resolution called settlements a ”violation of international humanitarian and human rights laws.”

Norway, Switzerland, Belgium and Austria voted in favor of the fact-finding mission, as did China, India and Russia. Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Moldavia, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Cameroon abstained. Only the US voted against the motion.

Since its establishment six years ago, the council has passed 91 resolutions, 39 of which targeted Israel. In Thursday’s vote, the council also passed one resolution against Syria and one against Iran.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the UN Human Rights Council a “hypocritical council with an automatic majority against Israel.”

“One only had to hear the Syrian representative speak today about human rights in order to understand how detached from reality the council is,” Netanyahu said.

“I am still stunned by the hypocrisy of the Human Rights Council,” Israeli Ambassador to the UN in Geneva Aharon Leshno-Yaar said, calling the resolution “surrealistic.” The decision showed the extent to which the council had become “a tool to push for one-sided, politicized moves instead of promoting human rights,” he said.

“The Palestinians must understand that they can’t have it both ways: they can’t enjoy cooperation with Israel and at the same time initiate political clashes in international fora,” Leshno-Yaar said.

In Washington, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said the vote showed US participation in the council was ineffective.

“Three years after the Obama Administration joined the Human Rights Council seeking to reform it from within, the Council remains as anti-Israel as ever,” Ros-Lehtinen said.

“The U.S. should finally leave that rogues’ gallery and seek credible alternative forums to advance human rights,” Ros-Lehtinen added.

Hamas treated like member at UN Headquarters in Geneva

There truly is very little difference between groups like Hamas and the United Nations that supports them. I’ll say it again, the world will never know peace as long as the UN is around. No institution on earth has done more harm to more people than this corrupt and bogus pile of cow chips.

This is the group that just last week fired hundreds of rockets into Israel.

Don’t wait for anyone from the Obama Administration or Hillary Clinton’s State Dept. to condemn this. They’d have Hamas over to the White House for a state dinner if it weren’t an election year.

Hamas speaker Ismail al-Ashqar at UN Geneva Headquarters event (red tie at the front of the room, sixth from right).

Eye on the UNToday the UN Human Rights Council and its UN staff in Geneva advertised and facilitated an event that handed a UN pass, and a UN microphone, in a UN room, to a representative of the terrorist organization Hamas.

…notwithstanding the fact that the grotesque antisemitic charter of Hamas advocates the murder of Jews and the obliteration of the Jewish state – – and the organization’s members are continuing to use unspeakable cruelty and violence to realize that horrendous goal.

Here is the UN advertisement – a Bulletin posted on the UN website – of the event organized by the UN-accredited NGO “Maarij Foundation for Peace and Development (MFPD)”.

Here are photos of the Hamas speaker – Ismail al-Ashqar – a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council at the session. (He is the individual wearing a red tie.)

UNESCO refuses to remove Syria from Human Right Committee

The depravity of the UN knows no bounds.

(LA Times) — A UNESCO commission Thursday condemned the violence against civilians in Syria but did not remove the embattled nation from its human rights committee, as the U.S. and other nations had hoped.

The United States and other countries want Syria removed from the group’s Committee on Conventions and Recommendations, which handles human rights issues, because of the crackdown by forces loyal to President Bashar Assad during the yearlong uprising against his government.

The U.S. “is profoundly disappointed that this resolution does not call for outright removal” of Syria from the committee, Ambassador David Killion said, according to the Associated Press.

The commission of the executive board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization voted 35-8 to condemn the crackdown on civilians in Syria. The resolution is scheduled to go before the executive board’s plenary session Friday.

Obama seeks to reward Palestinians, UNESCO for illegalities by overriding funding restriction

Obama’s White House budget for 2013 includes a footnote that says that the U.S. State Department will work to waive the ban on financial assistance to UNESCO, imposed after the U.N. organization illegally recognized a Palestinian state back in October.

So typical. The Obama Administration will do anything to screw Israel, assist the Arabs, and empower the UN.

Israel Hayom – The Obama administration plans to ask Congress to waive the restrictions placed on financial assistance to the U.N. Educational, Science and Cultural Organization after UNESCO recognized a Palestinian state last October, according to the White House’s 2013 Budget Request submitted to Congress earlier this month.

“The Department of State intends to work with Congress to seek legislation that would provide authority to waive restrictions on paying the U.S. assessed contributions to UNESCO,” a footnote in the document said.

UNESCO voted to admit “Palestine” as its 195th member last October by a vote of 107 to 14, with 52 abstentions. It became the first U.N. agency to formally grant full-member status to the Palestinians since the Palestinian Authority applied for unilateral recognition of statehood at the U.N. on Sept. 23. After the vote, a Palestinian envoy in Geneva said he believed that joining UNESCO would “open the door” for admission to 16 other U.N. agencies within a matter of weeks.

The U.S. and Canada responded to the vote by cutting off funding for UNESCO. Acting on a U.S. legal requirement to cut funds to any U.N. agency that recognizes a Palestinian state, U.S. State Department Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters in November that the Obama administration would not pay some $70 million — 22 percent of the agency’s budget. Canada, which reportedly contributes $10 million to UNESCO annually, also decided to freeze its payments. Israeli government officials also said Israel would no longer provide funds to UNESCO.

In a press release on Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), chairwoman of the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee and a firm opponent of reinstating funding to UNESCO, referred to the footnote in the budget request and said she would oppose the waiver.

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.)

“The Palestinian leadership’s dangerous statehood scheme at the U.N. was dealt a significant blow last year after the U.S. cut off funding to UNESCO due to its admission of ‘Palestine.’ Now, the administration is requesting to resume funding to UNESCO, despite the fact that it includes ‘Palestine’ as a member. Resuming U.S. funding would give a green light for other U.N. bodies to follow in UNESCO’s footsteps and support the Palestinian statehood push,” Ros-Lehtinen said in the press release. “I am deeply disappointed that, rather than standing up for U.S. law and for our key ally, Israel, the administration is seeking to remove this roadblock to the unilateral recognition of a ‘Palestinian state.’”

She added, “Any effort to walk back this funding cutoff will pave the way for the Palestinian leadership’s unilateral statehood scheme to drive on, and sends a disastrous message that the U.S. will fund U.N. bodies no matter what irresponsible decision they make.” Continue reading

UN lowers all flags to half-mast in honor of mass-murdering dictator Kim Jon Il

The evil UN acknowledges fellow evil-doer.

(Reuters) — U.N. offices around the world lowered their flags to half-staff to mark the funeral of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il on Wednesday in a move the world body said was routine but which prompted objections from some human rights activists.

In New York, where the flag outside U.N. headquarters was lowered, spokesman Eduardo del Buey said the gesture had been requested by Pyongyang’s U.N. mission but was normal for the funeral of any head of state. [...]

But UN Watch, a Geneva-based advocacy group, said the U.N. human rights message was “at serious risk of being blurred today” because of the honoring of Kim, who died on December 17.

“Today should be a time for the U.N. to show solidarity with the victims – the millions of North Koreans brutalized by Kim’s merciless policies of starvation, torture and oppression – and not with the perpetrator,” the group’s executive director, Hillel Neuer, said in a statement.

UN holds minute of silence for murdering demagogue, Kim Jong Il

Who’s surprised, really? The UN is evil incarnate.

UNITED NATIONS — The UN General Assembly granted a request from North Korea and held a few moments of silence Thursday for Kim Jong-il, the country’s former leader who died Saturday, though Western delegations boycotted it.

Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, president of the 193-nation assembly, called for a “minute of silence” before the start of a routine meeting at 3:00 p.m. EST in the half-empty UN General Assembly hall.

“It is my sad duty to pay tribute to the memory of the late Kim Jong-il, Secretary-General of the Workers Party of Korea, Chairman of the National Defense Commission of theDemocratic People’s Republic of Korea and Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army, who passed away on Saturday, Dec. 17,” he said.

Claudia Rosett writing at PJMedia has this to say:

This isn’t just a low moment. It is despicable. The United Nations General Assembly has just paid tribute to the late North Korean tyrant, Kim Jong Il, with delegates standing to observe a minute of silence in his memory.

Clinton's Albright was another fan of the monster, of course.

The Associated Press reports that this kind of tribute is “customary for leaders who die in office” and that North Korea’s Mission to the UN requested this tribute to Kim. There were no speeches, and the chamber was half empty.

None of that excuses the depraved act of the UN honoring a man whose rule was responsible for abominations and atrocities inflicted by Kim Jong Il and his regime during Kim’s 17 years in power, or for that matter Kim’s long prior career under his father of engineering terrorist acts such as bombings and abductions abroad. For the UN to pay any tribute to Kim Jong Il is to insult the million or more Koreans who died of famine, the hundreds of thousands consigned to Kim’s prison camps, and the many millions more leading lives of grotesque fear and deprivation — all as the cost of Kim’s rule.

Nothing in the UN rulebook requires the General Assembly to pay tribute to its array of resident monsters. The Assembly could have replied to the North Korean mission that there will be no tribute to anyone, dead or living, who contributed to North Korea’s totalitarian horrors. But this same General Assembly that annually demands billions of dollars from U.S. tax payers — and gets them from our federal government — has just paid tribute to Kim Jong Il. What more do we need to know?

Heh.

UN with Obama Administration backing passes resolution banning criticism of Islam or shariah

This bodes very ill for freedom, and it’s astounding (but not surprising) that it isn’t being covered by the mainstream media.

The Obama Administration and Hillary Clinton, of course, gave the resolution its full backing. This is because the Obama Administration is pro-Islam, pro-Sharia, and anti-freedom.

There was no need for such a resolution. It is intended to prevent and criminalise any and all criticism of Islam and shariah.

It will never be used to protect Christians, Jews, Hindus, or any other faith. The Islamic world will continue to abuse these faiths, but the self-hating, 5th column suckers in the Western world will use it to silence critics of radical Islam even more.

_________________________________________

(CNSNews.com) – The U.N. General Assembly on Monday adopted a resolution condemning the stereotyping, negative profiling and stigmatization of people based on their religion, and urging countries to take effective steps “to address and combat such incidents.”

No member state called for a recorded vote on the text, which was as a result adopted “by consensus.”

The resolution, an initiative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), is based on one passed by the U.N.’s Human Rights Council in Geneva last spring. The State Department last week hosted a meeting to discuss ways of “implementing” it.

Every year since 1999 the OIC has steered through the U.N.’s human rights apparatus a resolution condemning the “defamation of religion,” which for the bloc of 56 Muslim states covered incidents ranging from satirizing Mohammed in a newspaper cartoon to criticism of shari’a and post-9/11 security check profiling.

Critics regard the measure as an attempt to outlaw valid and critical scrutiny of Islamic teachings, as some OIC states do through controversial blasphemy laws at home.

Strongly opposed by mostly Western democracies, the divisive “defamation” resolution received a dwindling number of votes each year, with the margin of success falling from 57 votes in 2007 to 19 in 2009 and just 12 last year.

This year’s text was a departure, in that it dropped the “defamation” language and included a paragraph that reaffirms “the positive role that the exercise of the right to freedom of opinion and expression and the full respect for the freedom to seek, receive and impart information can play in strengthening democracy and combating religious intolerance.”

The nod to freedom of expression won the resolution the support of the U.S. and other democracies, with the Obama administration and others hailing it as a breakthrough after years of acrimonious debate.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took the opportunity of the State Department-hosted talks with foreign governments, the OIC and other international bodies last week to stress the importance of freedom of speech in the U.S. She argued that “the best way to treat offensive speech is by people either ignoring it or combating it with good arguments and good speech that overwhelms it.”

Saudi initiative singled out for praise

Nonetheless, the resolution adopted in New York on Monday does contain elements that concern some free speech and religious freedom advocates.

It calls on states “to take effective measures to ensure that public functionaries in the conduct of their public duties do not discriminate against an individual on the basis of religion or belief.”

Governments also are expected to make “a strong effort to counter religious profiling, which is understood to be the invidious use of religion as a criterion in conducting questionings, searches and other law enforcement investigative procedures.”

“Effective measures” to counter cases of religious stereotyping and stigmatization include education, interfaith dialogue and “training of government officials.”

And in the worst cases, those of “incitement to imminent violence” based on religion, the resolution calls on countries to implement “measures to criminalize” such behavior.

Also of note is the fact that the resolution singles out for praise only one interfaith initiative – and that initiative was established by Saudi Arabia, a leading OIC member-state with a long history of enforcing blasphemy laws. Continue reading

Ros-Lehtinen urges funding cutoff as UNESCO hoists Palestinian flag

If Obama is re-elected, he will no longer worry about duping voters. He will drop all pretenses of being an ally of Israel, and will side with the UN against Israel whenever possible.

Israel Hayom – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) issued a statement on Tuesday condemning UNESCO, which raised the Palestinian flag outside its Paris headquarters this week to mark the official induction of “Palestine” into the U.N. cultural agency on Oct. 31.

“The raising of the Palestinian flag at UNESCO headquarters rewards and reinforces the Palestinian leadership’s refusal to meet its obligations and directly negotiate a true and lasting peace with Israel. Asserting the existence of a Palestinian state does not make it so. It only makes real peace harder to achieve,” she said.

“The only thing deterring more U.N. bodies from following in UNESCO’s reckless, anti-peace footsteps is the credible threat of a U.S. funding cutoff, as U.S. law requires. Money talks at the U.N. We must stand strong and resist efforts to restore funding to UNESCO, as this would signal that it’s open season for the Palestinian statehood scheme at the U.N.”

“The problem here is the U.N.’s irresponsible and biased behavior, not U.S. law. We must stand by our laws, stand by our values and stand by our ally Israel, and maintain this funding cutoff unless and until UNESCO reverses its decision to admit a Palestinian state.”

In Paris on Tuesday, cheers rose as the red, black, white and green flag went up in pouring rain under the gaze of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova. Bokova welcomed “Palestine” without mentioning the U.S. funding cutoff that its membership prompted and that is hobbling the organization.  (more >>>)

Arabs bribing pro-Israel Pacific micro nations as much as $50 million to vote against Israel

The degree of corruption and criminality at the United Nations is so widespread and profound that it is impossible to exaggerate. As long as the world supports this viciously evil institution it deserves the hell that is fast heading its way.

Ynet (print edition, Hebrew)

Israel’s only consistent friends at the UN have been the tiny island nations of Palau, Vanuatu, Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and a number of other Pacific micro nations. Their firm support of Israel at the UN is a result of their strong Christian faith. They are far more dependable than the United States.

Israel Today via Barenakedislam – While there is little need to provide incentives for most nations to vote against Israel at the UN General Assembly, some Arab states are nevertheless bribing countries that traditionally side with the Jewish state in order to make passage of anti-Israel resolutions more one-sided.

That according to Johnson Toribiong, president of the Pacific island nation of Palau, who was in Israel for an official state visit last week.

Toribiong told Israel’s Yediot Ahronot newspaper that he was recently offered $50 million by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to start voting against Israel at the UN.

“We told them: ‘Forget it. We will not vote against Israel for anything in the world’,” Toribiong said.

Toribiong was accompanied by Iolu Johnson Abil, president of Vanuatu, another Pacific island nation. Palau, Vanuatu, Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and a number of other Pacific micro nations are firm supporters of Israel at the UN as result of their strong Christian faith.

That nations are trying to buy UN General Assembly votes against other nations speaks loudly about the state of affairs at the world body. What speaks even louder is that these allegations of severe impropriety are being completely ignored by the UN and the international community.

And it’s not the first time.

When the Solomon Islands, another Pacific island nation, suddenly began voting against Israel in 2009, many wondered why. Like other Christian island nations, the Solomon Islands had always backed the Jewish state. Later it was discovered that Iran’s foreign ministry had bribed the impoverished Solomon Islands with a $200,000 check and technological aid.

Elderofzion points to more examples of the Arabs trying to buy of the tiny island nations here and here.

UNESCO elects Syria to human rights committees

UNESCO, who recently admitted the PLO to its ranks, proves yet again what a corrupt organization it is. The United Nations is the greatest enabler of evil on the planet, and yet no nation or world leader dares to confront this monstrosity.

UN Watch – UNESCO’s executive board, which includes the US, France, the UK and other Western democracies, unanimously elected Syria to a pair of committees – one dealing directly with human rights issues – even as the Bashar al-Assad regime maintains its campaign of violence against its own citizens.

The Arab group at UNESCO nominated Syria for the spots, and though the 58-member board approved the pick by consensus on Nov. 11, the agency has not yet posted the results on its website.

Syria’s election came just a day before the League of Arab States moved to suspend Syrian membership of that body.

“The Arab League’s suspension of Syria is stripped of any meaning when its member states elevate Syria to UN human rights committes,” says Hillel Neuer, executive director of the Geneva-based monitoring group UN Watch.

“It’s shameful for the UN’s prime agency on science, culture and education to take a country that is shooting its own people and empower it to decide human rights issues on a global scale. Regrettably, the pressure to bow to consensus –  part of the go-along-to-get-along tradition at the UN – can drag everyone down to the will of the lowest common denominator.”

Neuer highlights that the executive board’s decision should not be all that surprising, given the body “recently welcomed serial human rights abusers as new members, like Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Pakistan and Russia.” Syria was already on the executive board, noted Neuer, “as were other countries with poor human rights records, including Venezuela, Zimbabwe, Belarus, China, Vietnam and Algeria.”

The UN says Syria’s crackdown on opposition protests has left more than 3,500 people dead over the past eight months. Continue reading

Senior Israeli officials: IAEA chairman, Mohamed ElBaradei, was an Iranian agent

This traitor to mankind should be arrested and put on trial for having willfully deceived the world at the behest of a rogue, Islamonazi nation.

“Now it turns out that ElBaradei led an active policy of concealment and disregard. This is very serious. He is a despicable person.”

‘Course, anyone with half a brain always knew the guy was an Islamonazi-sympathizer and a fraud. The day he won the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize should have been hint enough – it is only awarded to scumbags. That the US and Europe ever took this weasel seriously shows just how infested the highest levels of power are with Islamists and radical Leftists. Only intellectuals could be so easily deceived.

Mohamed ElBaradei, Islamonazi

Ynet – Senior Israeli officials said Tuesday night that the International Atomic Energy Agency report stating that Iran has been working on developing a nuclear weapon design proves that the former UN nuclear watchdog chairman “was an Iranian agent”.

On Wednesday, ElBaradei rejected Israel’s accusations and called them “false.” His response was published on the website of the Egyptian daily al-Youm al-Saba’a.

The former IAEA chairman, Mohamed ElBaradei, is an Egyptian diplomat who even won the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize.

For years he defended the Iranian nuclear program, claiming that it was peaceful, thus allowing the Iranians to continue their activity with the nuclear watchdog’s seal of approval.

According to one of the state officials, the new report published Tuesday proves “just how much he was working for the Iranians.

“He simply rescued Iran and was constantly busy covering up for them, causing serious damage by allowing the Iranians to fool the entire world and play for time. History may judge him as the person who helped Iran obtain a nuclear weapon.

“The things exposed now are not new. These are old things which were hidden and not published,” the official added. “Now it turns out that ElBaradei led an active policy of concealment and disregard. This is very serious. He is a despicable person.”

“ElBaradei didn’t just mess us up, he messed up the entire sane world,” added Uzi Eilam, former head of Israel’s Atomic Energy Agency. “He was dishonest his entire term. He is the one who stopped the Security Council from imposing serious sanctions, providing the Iranians with precious time.”

In an editorial published Wednesday, the British Daily Telegraph indirectly criticized ElBaradei. “Indeed, the IAEA has known for years that Tehran was building an atomic weapon, but has been reluctant to say so. This has made it more difficult to create a united front against the threat that a nuclear-armed Iran would pose to world peace,” the article read.

Israel joins US and Canada in cutting off UNESCO spigot

As already reported, both the US and Canada have announced the freezing of payments to the terror-supporting creeps at UNESCO. With Israel withholding its $2 million, the total comes to about $72 million, which should be about 25% of their funding.

Arutz Sheva – UNESCO has lost another $2 million, this time from dues payable annually from the State of Israel.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu gave the order Thursday afternoon for the Jewish State to stop payment on its dues to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Netanyahu instructed that the funds be diverted to parallel initiatives for regional cooperation.

The move comes following the agency’s decision to accept the Palestinian Authority as a full member, in a vote on Monday, despite the entity’s  lack of membership in the U.N. itself, and despite the fact that it is not a sovereign nation.

“Such steps will not advance peace; they only push it further away,” Netanyahu said. “The only way to reach peace is through direct negotiations without preconditions.”

The PA, hoping to circumvent the necessity for direct talks with Israel with its bid for recognition as an independent nation and full membership in the international body, submitted its application to the U.N. Security Council in September.

The United States, which warned the PA it would block the move by exercising its veto in the Council should the resolution approach passage, also cut off funds to UNESCO after the vote to accept the PA as a member.

Canada said it would not be increasing its assistance to UNESCO. The decision affects future voluntary contributions, which are now about $10 million a year.

UNESCO begs US to fork over the money despite back-stabbing

Kinda like the old story of a kid who shoots his parents and then wants pity for being an orphan.

UNESCO knew very well where American law stood on the issue, yet they did it anyway.

Worse still, the Obama regime is looking for ways to get around the congressional law forbidding the U.S. to continue payments to the corrupt, terror-supporting organization. But they have to go through the great House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) first. She has told the Clinton State Department to stuff it.

“Already, the Administration appears to be seeking loopholes, and the UN’s apologists are out in full force with doomsday rhetoric urging a change to the law that would allow payments to continue to flow to UN entities that admit ‘Palestine.’ Congress’s response must be a resounding ‘No,’” she said in a statement. “Any effort to walk back U.S. law would send the damaging message that the U.S. will keep paying for UN bodies no matter what they do. We do not strengthen our leadership and influence internationally by demonstrating that there are no consequences for UN actions that undermine peace and security.”

CBS/AP (h/t Weasel Zippers) — The head of UNESCO is pleading with the U.S. to reinstate funding cut off after the agency granted membership to Palestine.

Director-General Irina Bokova warned in a statement Wednesday that the move jeopardizes programs “in America’s core interests,” such as those fostering a free media in nascent Mideast democracies.

She said that without U.S. support, “it will be impossible for us to maintain our current level of activity.”

On Monday, the members of the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization voted to welcome Palestine.

The United States typically funds about 20 percent of the agency’s budget, but American law bars contributions to organizations that grant membership to territories that are not internationally recognized as states.
