AGAIN! Obama-Clinton State Dept – Israel has no capital, we don’t recognize Jerusalem

Weekly Standard – The State Department today again refused to name the capital of Israel, even after being questioned by the press and even after the Democratic party (President Obama’s party) voted yesterday to add language to its platform stating that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.

Here’s the remarkable exchange from today’s press briefing, with reporters and press secretary Patrick Ventrell:

QUESTION: On Israel?

MR. VENTRELL: Yeah.

QUESTION:Which city does the U.S. Government recognize as the capital in the – Israel?

MR. VENTRELL: Well, as you know, longstanding Administration policy, both in this Administration and in previous administrations across both parties, is that the status of Jerusalem is an issue that should be resolved in final status negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians. So that’s longstanding Administration policy and continues to be so.

QUESTION: I mean, no city is recognized as a capital by the U.S. Government?

MR. VENTRELL: Again, I just stated our position, and it’s one we’ve said here many times before.

QUESTION: That means Jerusalem is not a part of Israel?

MR. VENTRELL: What it means is that the status of Jerusalem must be resolved in final status negotiations.

QUESTION: But you do have an Embassy in a city which is not Jerusalem.

MR. VENTRELL: Our Embassy is in Tel Aviv, and we have a Consulate General in Jerusalem.

QUESTION: Right. But I mean, if you have an Embassy, usually it’s in the capital; so therefore, it would appear that you believe that Tel Aviv is the capital.

MR. VENTRELL: What we believe is that the status of Jerusalem should be determined in final status negotiations between the two parties. And currently, our Embassy is in Tel Aviv.

QUESTION: Are there any other countries in the world where the U.S. doesn’t know what the capital is or won’t say what the capital of a country is?

QUESTION: What does the U.S. think the capital of Israel is? What do you –

MR. VENTRELL: As I’ve just said, we believe that the status of Jerusalem is an issue that should be resolved in final status –

QUESTION: I’m not asking you that question. I’m asking you what you think the capital is.

MR. VENTRELL: And my response is that Jerusalem is an issue that should be resolved in final status negotiations.

QUESTION: She didn’t ask about Jerusalem, though.

MR. VENTRELL: Look, this is something we’ve been through at this podium. Toria has been through it before. We’ve repeated it many times. You know that the position is. It hasn’t changed for decades.

QUESTION: Wait, I know that. And I don’t want to play the verbal game, I’m just very curious if you actually have a position about a capital of that country. And if you don’t, if – I just would like to hear you say you don’t.

MR. VENTRELL: Well, right now, Nicole –

QUESTION: Yes.

MR. VENTRELL: – the situation is that we have an Embassy in Tel Aviv that represents our interests with the Government of Israel but that the issue of Jerusalem is one that has to be resolved between the two parties. That’s all I can say on this.

Rasmussen: Voters by 5-to-1 margin believe that America’s media is in Democrat’s pocket

Are Americans finally waking up to the enemedia? It is the only thing that can save us.

Washington Secrets: (h/t Weasel Zippers) – Likely voters, by a five-to-one margin, believe that America’s media is in President Obama’s pocket and will treat his candidacy better than challenger Mitt Romney’s as the election nears, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll.

The startling numbers point to an even more disturbing trend for the media: Reporters just aren’t trusted to deliver the news in an unbiased fashion. The proof: Rasmussen found that when it comes to information about the presidential campaign, 48 percent of likely voters trust friends and family while just 26 percent trust reporters.

The poll of 1,000 was conducted August 9-10 before many more tuned in to the campaign when Romney chose Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate. Since then, many cable reporters and pundits have vocally assailed Ryan.

The poll found that 59 percent of likely voters believe that the media has given Obama better treatment than Romney, a view Team Obama doesn’t agree with. Just 18 percent believe the media has treated Romney better.

NY Post – Anthony Weiner’s wife not only took him back, she took him back in style — moving with the shamed pol into a luxurious, $3.3 million Manhattan pad owned by a deep-pocketed Democratic donor, The Post has learned.

After quitting his Queens House seat amid a notorious sexting scandal, Weiner and beautiful, brainy spouse Huma Abedin, a top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, landed in the sprawling, 12th-floor Park Avenue trophy residence owned by Rosen Partners LLC, which is headed by close Clinton pal Jack Rosen, records show.

Rosen — who oversees the American Jewish Congress — is an influential international political force. He’s been a guest at the White House, flies the Clintons in his private plane, and has poured money into both Bill and Hillary Clinton’s election campaigns over the years, according to campaign-finance records.

He has also contributed several thousand dollars to Weiner’s coffers, and is a top Obama bundler, donating more than $500,000 to the president’s re-election efforts.

The market-rate rent on Weiner and Abedin’s 2,120-square-foot, four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom apartment — where the disgraced pol has said he spends his days doing laundry and changing baby son Jordan’s diapers — is at least $12,000 to $14,000 a month, real-estate sources said.

A much smaller 1,476-square-foot, two-bedroom unit on a lower floor recently rented for $10,000, records show.

Some Weiner-watchers are stunned that the pol, who gave up his $174,000 salary when he resigned, and Huma, who makes around $155,000 annually, can afford the posh pad at 254 Park Ave. South at East 20th Street.

“It’s a ridiculously expensive place,” said a top Democratic fund-raising source with deep ties to the Clintons.

“Everyone assumes they live there for free, thanks to a donor, a friend of Bill and Hillary, or even just someone with an empty place who is connected,” the source said.

But Hillary Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines insisted that Weiner and Abedin pay “market rate’’ for the pad.

“They are a two-income family and are more than capable of paying their market-rate rent,” he said, declining to disclose exactly what the couple pays.

Weiner hasn’t landed steady work since leaving office, according to sources. But some friends of the onetime rising star said he has consulting work and will have no problem exceeding his congressional salary.

Federal officials such as Abedin face restrictions on receiving gifts and must disclose their financial dealings to ensure that their decision-making isn’t compromised by private interests.

As one of Hillary’s key confidantes, Abedin is in a position where she could exert considerable influence on America’s top diplomat.

EU ruling – Workers who get sick on vacation legally entitled to a do-over

Breitbart – The European Union is on the brink of collapse, and a ruling by Europe’s highest court may accelerate this process.

The Court of Justice of the European Union, according to the New York Times, “ruled that workers who happened to get sick on vacation were legally entitled to take another vacation.”

No joke.

Europeans enjoy the four to six weeks of vacation they are guaranteed annually. After this ruling, which applies to all 27 countries in the European Union, workers who get sick on their vacations can add those days to their legally entitled vacation days.

It does not take a rocket scientist to see how this ruling can be exploited by people to increase the number of vacations days they get ( worst-case scenario – for employers – workers could probably exploit this rule to double their vacation time).

Article 24 in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states, “Everyone has the right to rest and leisure, including reasonable limitation of working hours and periodic holidays with pay.”

The late Jeanne Kirkpatrick, Ronald Reagan’s Ambassador to the U.N., once said the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was like “a letter to Santa Claus,” and European workers just got many more goodies (vacation days).

Popular Oregon professor fired for daring to question phony man-made global warming

Daily Caller – Oregon State University chemistry professor Nicholas Drapela was fired without warning three weeks ago and has still been given no reason for the university’s decision to “not renew his contract.”

Drapela, an outspoken critic of man-made climate change, worked at the university for 10 years.

In the early years of his career, he published a number of textbooks, received a promotion to senior instructor and, in 2004, received a Loyd F. Carter award for outstanding and inspirational teacher.

In 2007, Drapela began giving talks on his own climate change skepticism. He often and openly questioned the science behind man-made global warming.

Drapela told the Daily Caller he was “blindsided” when the department chair called Drapela into his office to fire him on May 29.

“He read a prepared statement and took my key,” Drapela said, adding that he was given no reason in this meeting as to why he was being let go.

The timing of the termination was odd because Oregon State University was still in session, with finals approaching.  (more >>>)

Even more explosively, several non-governmental organizations appear to be complicit in the hunt for the “traitors.” Aaron Klein (via Elder of Ziyon) reports:

The PA sources told KleinOnline that the Palestinian government recently formed a unit with a $2.7 million yearly budget to investigate property sales to Jews as well as any Jewish communities, outposts or military bases that may be sitting on Arab-owned land. The unit works with nongovernmental organizations, including European-funded NGOs.

The number of Palestinians imprisoned for land sales to Jews is much larger than previous reported . . . .

Over the years, scores of Palestinians have been put to death in judicial and extrajudicial killings after being accused of land sales to Jews.

Imagine the outrage if A) Israel did this B) with help from NGOs C) funded by European countries that oppose capital punishment.

Greta Hawkins, principal of PS 90, the Edna Cohen School, won’t allow kindergartners to belt out the beloved Lee Greenwood ballad, also known as “Proud to be an American,” at their moving-up ceremony.

Five classes spent months learning the patriotic song, which skyrocketed in popularity after the 9/11 attacks and the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

It was to be the rousing finale of their musical show at the June 20 commencement. The kids, dressed up for their big day, would wave tiny American flags — which, as the lyrics proclaim, “still stand for freedom.”

But Hawkins marched in on a recent rehearsal and ordered a CD playing the anthem to be shut off, staffers said.

She told the teachers to drop the song from the program.

“We don’t want to offend other cultures,” they quoted her as explaining.

The curt edict stunned both staff and parents.

“A lot of people fought to move to America to live freely, so that song should be sung with a whole lot of pride,” said mom Luz Lozada, whose son, Daniel, is in kindergarten.

(Gateway Pundit) – A top Obama EPA official discussed the Obama Administration’s plan to destroy the coal industry at a recent Yale University gathering of environmentalists.

EPA Region 1 Administrator Curt Spalding told the Yale University gathering, “Lisa Jackson has put forth a very powerful message to the country,” that “if you want to build a coal plant you got a big problem.” Spalding went on to explain that the decision was “painful” because “you got to remember if you go to West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and all those places, you have coal communities who depend on coal. And to say that we just think those communities should just go away, we can’t do that. But she had to do what the law and policy suggested. And it’s painful. It’s painful every step of the way.”
