TUNIS, Tunisia (AP) (h/t Weasel Zippers) — U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton advised an audience in Tunisia on Saturday to “not pay attention” to the comments made by candidates vying for the Republican presidential nomination, saying the often overheated rhetoric of the campaign doesn’t reflect U.S. policy.

Speaking at a town-hall style event in Tunisia, the North African nation that sparked the “Arab Spring” revolts, Clinton said the partisan remarks made during campaign events “certainly don’t reflect the United States, don’t reflect our foreign policy, don’t reflect who we are as a people.”
Clinton’s remarks came in response to a question from a member of her audience who said he was troubled by some of the comments, which he considered anti-Muslim, made by candidates running for president.
“If you go to the United States, you see mosques everywhere, you see Muslim-Americans everywhere. That’s the fact. So I would not pay attention to the rhetoric,” she said.
Instead, she advised people to listen instead to President Barack Obama.

“I think that will be a very clear signal to the entire world as to what our values are,” Clinton said.
She added that she is sometimes surprised that people around the world pay more attention to what’s said in U.S. political campaigns than do most Americans.
“I think you have to shut out some of the rhetoric and just focus on what we’re doing and what we stand for and particularly what our president represents,” Clinton said.
Obama has come under fierce criticism from Republicans for apologizing for the burning of Qurans at a military base in Afghanistan.

Arutz Sheva – Yemeni electoral officials Wednesday were still counting votes after Tuesday’s presidential poll in which the nation’s interim leader was the only candidate.
Vice President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi is expected to be rubber stamped in an election that ends the 33-year reign of President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Electoral officials in Yemen say that turnout in Tuesday’s vote reached 60 per cent nationwide, but in the south, where ten people were killed in clashes between separatists and police, turnout was far lower.
“Average nationwide voter participation reached 60 per cent,” an official, who spoke with Gulf News on condition of anonymity, said.
In the main southern city of Aden, 50 per cent of eligible voters cast their ballots, while in other southern provinces, turnout was less than 40 per cent.
Separatists in the south rejected a single candidate poll, but Hadi is widely seen as an honest broker by opposition leaders, members of Saleh’s old guard, and international actors in Yemen.
Saleh’s departure and Hadi’s uncontested election were a part of a Washington-backed deal brokered by the Gulf Cooperation Council for a smooth transition of power in Yemen.
Under the deal Hadi, who has effectively run the country since an assassination attempt on Saleh in June 2011, will head unity government tasked with undertaking much needed political and financial reform.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hailed the vote as “another important step forward in their [Yemen's] democratic transition process.”

Arutz Sheva – U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton switched from foreign to domestic issues to put down Israel Saturday, expressing worries over “anti-democratic” proposals. Knesset Member Uri Ariel suggests that Secretary of State mind her own business, and two Cabinet ministers said the same, in more patronizing language.
Speaking at the Saban Forum in Washington, Clinton alleged that Israel is showing signs of becoming anti-democratic because of a recent bill proposing limits on foreign funding of local NGOs and for allegedly trying to exclude women from public life in Israel.
Israel is known as the only real democracy in the Middle East, where women and Arabs have full and equal rights and who have risen to the top in politics and business.
However, she picked on several Jerusalem buses, used mainly by hareidi religious passengers who prefer separate seating for men and women as a matter of modesty.
Although the courts have ruled that the seating is legal only if it is accepted by the passengers, and although the number bus lines involved represent a tiny fraction of Israel’s transportation system, Clinton pounced on the issue.
It’s reminiscent of Rosa Parks,” she said, referring to a black woman who refused to give up her seat to white passengers in the United States in the 1950s.
She also jumped on the issue of requests from hareidi religious soldiers to be excused from IDF events in which a woman is singing, which is considered by many to be a violation of the laws of modesty when performed in mixed company.
For Clinton, the request reminds her of Iran.
National Union MK Uri Ariel commented Sunday that Clinton “would do well not to interfere with Israel’s internal affairs and worry instead about American citizens.”
“Her unwanted interference is an additional proof that Israel needs laws that will preserve its character and protect it from interference by foreign governments who try to minimize Israel’s Jewish character,” he added.
Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz also thought Clinton’s comments were odd. “Her comments are a complete exaggeration.” he said Sunday morning, “Israel is a living and liberal democracy, I do not know of many other democracies that are any better. The subjects of separate seating and rejecting women are unacceptable, but that is far away from representing a threat to democracy.”
Another Likud Minister, Gilad Erdan, advised that public officials should study their own policies and not interfere with Israel’s domestic issues.
Oddly enough, the Saban conference focused on Iran and the American-backed Middle East ”peace process,” which most observers consider to be dead and buried.

Clinton specifically pointed to a letter that David Thorne, the U.S. ambassador to Italy, sent to Lady Gaga urging her to participate in the event.
“And then there is the work that our embassy team in Rome has been doing,” Clinton said. “Two weeks ago they played an instrumental role in bringing Lady Gaga to Italy for a Euro Pride concert.
“Now as many of you know Lady Gaga is Italian American and a strong supporter of LGBT rights,” said Clinton. “And the organizers of the Euro Pride event desperately wanted her to perform and a letter to her from Ambassador Thorne was instrumental in sealing the deal.”

UK Telegraph - Mrs Clinton, the former First Lady, Senator for New York and rival to Mr Obama in the 2008 Democratic primary race, is said to be eager to become the first female president of the World Bank should the post become vacant next year.
“Hillary Clinton wants the job,” a source close to Mrs Clinton told Reuters, which broke the news of the possible move.
Robert Zoellick, a former Bush administration official, is believed to be ready to step down as president at the end of his term in the middle of next year.
Mrs Clinton has made clear she does not want to remain US Secretary of State, a gruelling job demanding months of world travel each year, beyond Mr Obama’s first term. Another source told Reuters that Mr Obama supported her taking the helm at the World Bank, which is traditionally led by an American.
Once formally nominated for the post by Mr Obama, Mrs Clinton’s appointment would require approval by the 187 member countries of the World Bank.
Philippe Reines, a spokesman for Mrs Clinton, issued a strong denial, releasing a statement saying: “Secretary Clinton has not had any conversations with the president, the White House or anyone about moving to the World Bank. She has expressed absolutely no interest in the job. She would not take it if offered.”
Jay Carney, the White House press secretary, also denied that Mrs Clinton was interested in the role.
Taking over the World Bank could be seen as an end to Mrs Clinton’s domestic political ambitions.

What, exactly, does the intended agreement entail?

- Enact tougher licensing requirements, creating additional bureaucratic red tape for legal firearms ownership.
- Confiscate and destroy all “unauthorized” civilian firearms (exempting those owned by our government of course).
- Ban the trade, sale and private ownership of all semi-automatic weapons (any that have magazines even though they still operate in the same one trigger pull – one single “bang” manner as revolvers, a simple fact the ant-gun media never seem to grasp).
- Create an international gun registry, clearly setting the stage for full-scale gun confiscation.
- In short, overriding our national sovereignty, and in the process, providing license for the federal government to assert preemptive powers over state regulatory powers guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment in addition to our Second Amendment rights.

Another screwed up, basket-case African country in flames, and like every other one there are no good guys to root for, just the lesser of two or three or four evils.
Reporting on the massacres and mayhem going on in the Ivory Coast yesterday, I half-joke that one party in the conflict need only claim that the Muslim Brotherhood, al-Qaeda, or Iran is on their side, then Obama will rush to help them achieve victory. Well Hillary Clinton has chosen, so we can be pretty sure that we are now on the wrong side.
The media has gone to great lengths to cover up the fact that this is another war involving Muslims. In no article that I came across did any mainstream media outlet bother to mention that the so-called President-elect Ouattara was Muslim, that the northern part of the Ivory Coast had become predominantly Muslim over the years, and that this struggle has been going on for years.
Ivory Coast has a population of around 17,298,040, with 6,677,043 Muslims. That’s 38.6%. That’s all Muslims ever need to exert their hand.
Now that Hillary Clinton has said that President Gbagbo must leave “immediately,” things start to make a little sense. Laurent Gbagbo, the incumbent who we are told lost a November vote, has refused to step down to make way for the “internationally recognized” and Muslim President Alassane Ouattara. Ouattara was “democratically elected” we’re told, and so that means he must be a great guy.
Who the hell knows if the election was fair? Because the corrupt and utterly untrustworthy UN says so? No one even heard about the election until people started dying. Maybe Gbagbo really did lose. Maybe not. But we get no real information about it. We are just supposed to accept the UN’s word and side the Muslims – as always. Since when in a democracy does each candidate have his own army?
Question: How did candidate Ouattara get such a big, well-armed army over night? The armed group backing Ouattara began its advance on the city six days ago, and took nearly 80 percent of the country before reaching the perimeter of Abidjan.
Answer: They didn’t. Just like the “rebels” in Libya, they are backed and funded and armed by someone. And since they are Muslim, it is obvious that for whomever it is that is supporting Ouattara it has nothing to do with democracy and everything to do with spreading something else.
Who is doing the real slaughtering in Ivory Coast? From what I can tell so far, it seems pretty clear that the team doing the lion’s share of slaughtering is the Muslim-led one that belongs to Ouattara, the man whom Clinton and the UN are backing:
Herald Scotland (h/t GWP) - A massacre in a Roman Catholic mission compound in the heart of the Ivory Coast’s cocoa-producing region could come to be seen as a crucial moment in the West African state’s escalating civil war.
Reports are mounting of atrocities by both sides in the conflict − those loyal to head of state Laurent Gbagbo, besieged in his presidential residence in Abidjan, Ivory Coast’s commercial capital, and those who follow northern leader and president-elect Allasane Ouattara.
Events at the Italian Salesian Roman Catholic mission in Duekoue increasingly echo a notorious church massacre during the Rwandan genocide in 1994.
Early reports suggested that more than 800 people, largely from the Gbagbo-supporting Gueré tribe, were killed in a single day at the sprawling Salesian Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus mission in Duekoue, 300 miles west of Abidjan towards the Liberian border. The attackers seem to have been largely soldiers descended from Burkina Faso immigrant Muslim families loyal to Ouattara.
Late yesterday the Roman Catholic charity Caritas said more than 1000 people were massacred in Duekoue. A Caritas spokesman said Caritas workers visited the town and reported seeing a neighbourhood filled with bodies of people who had been shot and hacked to death with machetes.
So here we have another civil war, and as the days and weeks go by, we will see more bumbling about by Obama and Clinton demonstrating their blatant hypocrisy and that all their words are meaningless.

ASSIST News - The civil war that erupted in September 2002 was portrayed by the international media as a crisis of democracy and human rights caused by Southern xenophobia and Islamophobia. In reality, Ivory Coast’s crisis is the consequence of decades of mass Muslim immigration coupled with political ambition and an internationally-sponsored Islamic agenda.
The civil war was fought essentially between those who want all Ivory Coast’s Muslim immigrants naturalised — giving Ivory Coast a Muslim majority overnight — and those who do not. Though he denies it, former Prime Minister Alassane Ouattara, a Northern Muslim, was doubtless behind the September 2002 failed coup that triggered the war. Ouattara and his party, the Rally of the Republicans (RDR), have been playing the race and religion cards for political gain. Ouattara’s intent has been to have all the Muslim immigrants naturalised (over 4 million: estimated to comprise between 30 and 40 percent of the total population) so that he (their champion) can dragnet the Muslim vote. Ouattara has long had his eye on the presidency.
The civil war left Ivory Coast totally polarised, split between a virtually ethnic-religiously cleansed, rebel-controlled Muslim North and a government-controlled predominantly Christian, non-Muslim South. Since the war the North has been in serious decline with AIDS, poverty and lawlessness increasing exponentially. In November 2004 Ivory Coast’s Christian president, Laurent Gbagbo, launched surprise airstrikes against rebel positions in the North in an attempt to reunify the country. However, former colonial power France (which backs the rebels for economic gain) intervened, razing all IC’s airforce planes, destroying runways and sending tanks against the Presidential Palace, around which loyalists formed a human shield.
The West had insisted that Ivory Coast could be reconciled, reunified and essentially saved by means of democratic elections, such is their faith in ‘democracy’ and the inherent goodness of man. In reality, the divisions are so profound and the stakes are so high that, unless genuine reconciliation occurred first, elections could only trigger conflict. Elections were held on 28 November 2010, with both Gbagbo and Ouattara claiming victory. The US, European Union and African Union have recognised Ouattara as the winner and called for Gbagbo to respect democracy and step down. Russia meanwhile is blocking a UN statement that would recognise Ouatarra, saying that this is not the UN’s role. Ivory Coast’s non-Muslims are traumatised, fearing that their homeland — once the most prosperous ‘Christian’ nation in West Africa, home to the region’s largest cathedral, home-base to most of West Africa’s regional Christian ministries — is about to come under Muslim political domination.

Hillary Clinton told Egypt’s new military dictatorship that America will print an extra $2 billion worth of aid to help get their fanatical country back on its knees.
Since the article doesn’t say otherwise, this $2 billion would be on top of the yearly $1.3 billion or so that America has been throwing at Egypt for decades.
To put this in perspective, right now in congress Clinton’s Democrats are whining over their offer to cut a puny $4 billion from America’s massive current budget deficit of some $1.3 Trillion.
Yet, here we are ready to hand over half the Democrat’s insignificant cuts to a country and government that we don’t even know yet how it will turn out, and apparently without any preconditions. For all we know, come election time, it could be the Muslim Brotherhood who will be overseeing that money.
This aid, on top of what we already waste on Egypt, would make the land that birthed the Muslim Brotherhood far and away the biggest recipient of American foreign aid, dwarfing what we give to Afghanistan, the current champion, ringing in at about $2.6 billion.

In what may be a nod to opposition criticism of how swiftly the referendum is being held, Clinton said that successful balloting takes time.
“While democracy requires elections, elections require preparation, including time for new parties to organize and build support, so the Egyptian people have a real choice when they go to vote,” Clinton said at a press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil al-Arabi.
She called for Egyptians to strengthen other elements needed for a “thriving democracy.”

As is typical of the Obama Administration, neither Hillary Clinton nor Susan Rice showed any objection about Iran having just been voted on to the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women.
Their silence on this and the ongoing protests in Iran is further evidence that Barack Hussein Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Susan Rice can only be viewed as complicit in Iran’s growing power and strength in the Middle East, and supportive of their nuclear ambitions.
As the great Anne Bayefsky of the Eye on the UN watch group writes, “…not a single state, including the United States, has indicated anything but smooth sailing for today’s membership of Iran on the U.N.’s top women’s rights body.”
Iran is one of the most oppressive regimes towards women, but you will never hear any Liberal feminist publicly condemn them, nor anyone from the U.S. State Department, including life-long Islamist appeasers, Hillary Clinton or Susan Rice. The hypocrisy is stunning, but typical.

It is beyond Orwellian that the U.S. or any Western nation continues to be a member of the United Nations, but the new normal is Orwell, and “Allahu Akbar” means “nothing to see here”.
Fox News – Today, Iran officially becomes a member of the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women. Only three days ago, the U.N. General Assembly voted to suspend Libya’s membership on the U.N. Human Rights Council in a desperate bid to save the Council’s tattered reputation and itself.
But not a single state, including the United States, has indicated anything but smooth sailing for today’s membership of Iran on the U.N.’s top women’s rights body.
The double-talk surrounding the Libyan maneuver was breathtaking. It was only nine months ago, after getting to know Qaddafi over four decades, that the General Assembly had elected Libya to serve on the U.N.’s top human rights body. And Libya still serves on the U.N. Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, the U.N. Commission on Information, and the Executive Board of U.N. Women.
The U.N. has no intention of really cleaning house, since there would be no baby left with the bath water. Here [above] is just a glimpse of the authority figures that the UN system currently has in place to run its global operations on human rights, women’s equality, protection of children and refugees, free flow of information, social and democratic development and crime prevention.

Ambassador Susan Rice: Israel illegitimate.
Long time Israel-hating Ambassador Susan Rice and Hillary Clinton had very harsh words for Israel on Friday, but their animosity for Israel was not enough to ingratiate them to the 57 member Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
Though Rice and Clinton said that they agreed in principle with the venomous anti-Israel UN Security Council resolution that sought to bar all Jewish ‘activity’ in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria, even adding their own baseless accusations and lies, this did nothing to appease the Jew-hating Islamic block.
Cairo – The Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) on Saturday denounced the United States for using its veto power to block a United Nations resolution that would have condemned Israeli settlements as being illegal.
‘It is a devastating blow to the credibility of international efforts to resume the peace process,’ the group said in a statement.
The media is trying to spin the American veto as evidence of Obama’s support for Israel. This is laughable. It was nothing of the sort.
The only reason the resolution came to be voted on was because Obama and Pants Suit of State Clinton wanted to publicly castigate Bibi Netanyahu and Israel. Obama could have signalled early on that the resolution would surely be vetoed, thereby ending the threat. Obama and Clinton, however, chose not to do so. They waited until the very last second in order to create as much animosity as possible towards the Jewish State.
Obama, Clinton, Rice, and the ever-despicable U.S. State Department are using the UN vote to further alienate an already universally isolated Israel in the world’s anti-Israel media complex. The other 14 members played their role, led by the perennially despicable Brits, French, and Germans, who can, and will eventually all go to hell, swallowed up by their own 5th column of radical Muslims who hate their guts.
Susan Rice said on the floor of the UN:
Our opposition to the resolution before this Council today should therefore not be misunderstood to mean we support settlement activity. On the contrary, we reject in the strongest terms the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlement activity. For more than four decades, Israeli settlement activity in territories occupied in 1967 has undermined Israel’s security and corroded hopes for peace and stability in the region. Continued settlement activity violates Israel’s international commitments, devastates trust between the parties, and threatens the prospects for peace…
While we agree with our fellow Council members—and indeed, with the wider world—about the folly and illegitimacy of continued Israeli settlement activity, we think it unwise for this Council to attempt to resolve the core issues that divide Israelis and Palestinians. We therefore regrettably have opposed this draft resolution.
The Obama Administration regularly uses the terms “reject the legitimacy ” or “the illegitimacy of” when referring to Israel. This is intentional. Though they say it refers to Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria (the so-called ‘West Bank’), it is meant to implant in the minds of the world’s ignorant that Israel herself is illegitimate – the very argument repeatedly made by the Arabs themselves.

In the telescopic view of the Obama administration, more than 60 years of Arab rejectionism means nothing.

No, the only thing the Obama administration deemed worthy of condemning in Amb. Rice’s statement was Israeli settlement activity.
What precisely is a settlement? When Israeli Jews build homes in Hebron, those are condemned as settlements. But never mentioned is the fact that there was an 800-year old Jewish community in Hebron which was driven out by Arab riots in 1929, almost two decades before the creation of Israel. And of course, the entire Palestinian national identity was a creation of the 1960s; until the 1967 war, the West Bank was part of Jordan and Gaza was controlled by Egypt.
Almost everyone recognizes that there will have to be some sort of territorial compromise, but the Obama administration’s actions in trying to force Israel back to the precise and indefensible 1967 borders is aprescription for disaster. The Palestinians have shown almost no willingness to compromise over the course of more than half a century.
Palestinian rejectionism, which continues to this day, is the problem, and Amb. Rice should have said so. Or at least balanced her criticisms of Israel with the recognition that the settlements did not happen in a vacuum.
Typically, American Liberal Jews have expressed no outrage what-so-ever over the U.S.’s handling of this vote. This is because Liberal Jews are Liberals first and foremost, and Jews only when they eat bagels.
The vast majority of Liberal Jews could care less about Israel, Zionism, or Judaism. They are Liberals first, which means State-funded abortion trumps the existence of Israel any old day. Obama and Hillary know this, so they will continue to pressure Israel and do all they can to hasten the demise of America’s #1 ally. Not just #1 in the Middle East as many say, but in the world.
Truly, if things ever got really hairy, who would you rather have fighting at your side, the Israelis or the French? Wake the hell up American Jews.

In the piece he challenges the mainstream media’s insistence that anti-Semitic sentiment among the protestors has played only a marginal role.
“The appearance of anti-Semitic and/or “anti-Zionist” motifs in the photos and videos of the protests is, however, simply too widespread and systematic for such assurances to reassure. Such images are to be found in video and photographic material from virtually every major Western news organization present in Egypt. This fact is all the more significant when one considers that the reports published or broadcast by these very same news organizations have as a rule outright ignored any anti-Semitic or anti-Israeli sentiment among the protestors.”
Readers of The New Normal know that from the get-go I warned that the protest would involve a great deal of anti-Zionist, anti-Israel Jew hatred. A number of my posts have dealt with this already.
What lies slithering among the feet of the protestors is indeed worrisome. However, something that should alarm Americans as much as the radical Islamic infestation of Egypt, is the blight of the group-think mentality of our own Western leaders and their media.
There is something too pat and cohesive in their thinking. For some it may be simply naive, unbridled optimism, sure; but, the undeniable evidence that numerous nefarious, anti-American and anti-Israel persons and groups are heavily invested in this movement is deserving of investigation.
Why do the political and media elite want so desperately to portray the so-called democracy movement said to be sweeping the Middle East as refreshingly wholesome and positive? Where were they during the democratic uprising in Iran? Those young people, whose cause was every bit as legitimate as that of the protestors in Egypt, met with near silence from the same people who have been promoting Egypt’s protestors for the past two weeks.

Why did Obama side with Ahmadinejad but not Mubarak? He and Hillary called for Mubarak to step down almost immediately, but not Ahmadinejad.
Which of the two tyrants is the greater threat to world peace? Mubarak was an ally of the U.S.. Not a very good one, but always referred to as such by every previous administration for the past 30 years. Ahmadinejad, on the other hand, is, and always has been, a sworn enemy of the U.S.. But for Obama, no “orderly transfer of power” for Mr. Ahmadinejihad.

She goes on to explain to the humble, highly-civilized Arabs of the UAE that American “extremists”, found only on the right, of course, are no different than those misunderstood ‘Asian youth‘ that are seen turning the entire world into a umber-violent video game every single day.
Clinton, who said she hoped her current trip to the Gulf would help to strengthen U.S. and Arab mutual understanding, said both societies should work to offset the sometimes overly loud voices on the political fringes.
“The extremists and their voices, the crazy voices that sometimes get on the TV, that’s not who we are, that’s not who you are, and what we have to do is get through that and make it clear that that doesn’t represent either American or Arab ideas or opinions,” she said.

Despite a simmering diplomatic row, President Hugo Chavez and US Secretaryof State Hillary Clinton were seen having a brief, friendly chat Saturday at the inauguration of Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff.
“They talked and smiled, at least for five minutes. It looked like a social conversation, both were smiling,” a Brazilian official who witnessed the encounter told AFP on condition of anonymity.
The encounter came only three days after the United States revoked the visa of Venezuela’s ambassador in Washington, in reprisal for Chavez’s rejection of the US president’s appointed ambassador to Caracas.
But Chavez and Clinton were all smiles as they mingled with the presidents of Chile and Colombia and the prime minister of Portugal while waiting to meet Rousseff.
At one point, Chavez extended his hand to Clinton, who shook it, smiling. They chatted for a few minutes before moving on to formally greeting Rousseff.
There were no reports on what was said between them.
