(CNSNews.com) – A survey conducted by a coalition of religious organizations shows that the number of mosques in the United States has grown by 74 percent in the past 11 years – up from 1,209 in 2001 to 2,106 in 2011.

The statistics were released earlier this year by Faith Communities Today (FACT), which is affiliated with the Hartford Seminary’s Hartford Institute for Religion Research.

The survey also reveals where those mosques exist, including the 10 states with the largest number of mosques – New York (257), California (246), Texas (166), Florida (118), Illinois (109), New Jersey (109), Pennsylvania (99), Michigan (77), Georgia (69) and Virginia (62).

Vermont has the least number of mosques, with one located in that state.

The survey also shows that most mosques are located in metropolitan areas, with Greater New York City ranked No. 1 with 192 mosques. Southern California (120), Greater Chicago (90), Greater Philadelphia (63) and Greater Detroit (63) rounded out the top five metropolitan areas for mosque population.

Jewish Press – The economy presided over by the Palestinian Authority and its head Mahmoud Abbas is a peculiar thing.

A year ago, the New York Times reported that the PA had managed to run up a deficit of more than half a billion US dollars in 2011 alone, and was borrowing heavily from unspecified banks. The financial crisis, according to PA prime minister and famed economist Salam Fayyad, was due to the failure of the PA’s sovereign friends to make good on their pledges. “Of the $971 million pledged by donors for this year, $330 million of it has been paid so far,” said the July 2011 report, quickly adding that “Fayyad said the current financial crisis had no bearing on the Palestinians’ readiness for independence.”

Ready for independence or not, the PA has now managed to run up an electricity tab of more than NIS 700 million. That’s how much they owed the Israel Electric Company as of September 1, 2012. Israel’s minister for energy Uzi Landau said yesterday that he will be instructing the IEC “to take all necessary steps to collect these debts, with all the implications that may arise.” Does he mean to turn off the power to the Abbas regime? Maybe.

The Times of Israel noted that:

“The accumulated electricity debt is another sign of the Palestinian Authority’s mounting cash crunch, which it largely blames on a sharp reduction in foreign aid since 2011.”

In tough economic times, you make tough economic decisions. Unless you’re the Palestinian Authority. Contemplate yesterday‘s report from Israel’s Channel 2, that the Palestinian Authority is spending $4.5 million a month paying salaries to  Palestinians in Israeli jails and to their families.

According to the report, the amount the Palestinians receives depends on  how long he is sentenced to (or in other words, how severe the crimes of the terrorist were).  Pursuant to a 2003 Palestinian Authority law, getting sentenced up to five years in prison earns NIS 1,000 ($250) per month. A life sentence earns NIS 4,000 ($1,000).  That amount increased further in 2011, under Fayyad’s stewardship, by an average of 300%.

And these terror-salaries and family benefits are not restricted to the members of the so-called “moderate” Palestinian factions like Fatah. They include Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

The report goes on to say that murderers get paid even more, the longer their incarceration. To illustrate, the Channel 2 report brings the case of the multiple murderer Abdullah Barghouti, sentenced in 2004 to 67 life sentences – one for each of the lives he snuffed out. He’s also the man who built the bomb that murdered Malki Roth (the daughter of the authors of this article). As a convicted murderer on behalf of the Palestinian Arabs, he qualifies for a monthly stipend of NIS 4,000 ($1,000). This will rise automatically next year to NIS 6,000.

2012 DNC platform deletes pro-Israel passages

Another four years of Obama and his radicals and the DNC platform will be indistinguishable from that of Hamas or Hezbollah.

Washington Beacon – Several pro-Israel sections of the 2008 Democratic Party platform have been removed from the 2012 platform—on Jerusalem, Palestinian refugees, and Hamas. The new platform represents another shift by the Obama Democrats toward the Palestinian position on key issues in the peace process.

For Jerusalem, the new platform has been brought into line with the Obama administration’s policy of not recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and supporting its division. Jerusalem is unmentioned in the 2012 document, whereas the 2008 and 2004 Democratic Party platforms declared “Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel…It should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths.” The Obama administration’s refusal to recognize Jerusalem has been a point of significant controversy in recent months.

On the issue of Palestinian refugees, the new document has removed language from the 2004 and 2008 platforms specifying that Palestinian “refugees” should be settled in a future Palestinian state, not in Israel.

The 2004 platform: “The creation of a Palestinian state should resolve the issue of Palestinian refugees by allowing them to settle there, rather than in Israel.”

The 2008 platform: The peace process “should resolve the issue of Palestinian refugees by allowing them to settle there, rather than in Israel.”

The 2012 platform contains no language on the matter.

Previously, Obama has incorporated the Palestinian positions on Jerusalem and borders into his administration’s policies. It appears that with his party’s new platform, he is also doing so with refugees.

Gone as well is the language from 2008 on the terrorist group Hamas, which currently controls the Gaza Strip. That platform declared, “The United States and its Quartet partners should continue to isolate Hamas until it renounces terrorism, recognizes Israel’s right to exist, and abides by past agreements.”

The 2012 platform contains no mention of Hamas.

Previous platforms also contained promises to maintain Israel’s “qualitative military edge” in the region. The 2008 platform, for example, spoke of a “commitment which requires us to ensure that Israel retains a qualitative edge for its national security and its right to self-defense.” The 2012 platform mentions only that “[t]he administration has also worked to ensure Israel’s qualitative military edge in the region,” with no commitment to doing so in the future.

Chicago’s democrat values: At least 10 people shot overnight, 82 killed or injured in last week

At least 10 people were wounded in shootings throughout the city – mainly on the South Side – Thursday night and Friday morning. Since last Thursday, at least 82 people have been wounded or killed in shootings in Chicago.

The most violent shooting overnight occurred at 12:48 a.m. in the 100 block of East 60th Street in the Washington Park neighborhood. Police said five men — all in their 20s — were standing outside when a white vehicle drove by and someone inside opened fire.

A 23-year-old man was shot in the side, a 24-year-old man was shot in the knee and thigh, a 29-year-old man was shot in the hand, another 29-year-old was also shot in the hand, and a man described only as being in his 20s was shot in the foot, according to police. According to Fire Media Affairs, one man was in critical condition and four others were in stable condition.

Another drive-by shooting with multiple victims took place about 3:45 a.m. in the 2600 block of West LeMoyne Street, in the West Town neighborhood.

A 25-year-old man was shot in the arm and leg and a 26-year-old man was shot in the arm. Both men were taken in good condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

23 year old Andrew Quade’s eye is swollen shut and his face is swollen after he says he was attacked in Ellis Square Friday night.

He was with his African American girlfriend walking through the square when he says three men shouted racial slurs at them.

The next thing the couple remembers, Quade was unconcios on the ground.

“He was basically left for dead. I don’t want to go into all the gory details but they could have stopped, but they kept going,” Quade’s girlfriend Olufisayo Bakre said.

Bakre says three black men began yelling at them as they walked to a friend’s birthday party.

“One of them was making racial comments at us and one of them was blowing kisses. It was very aggravating,” Bakre said.

Quade says he tried to ignore the comments.

“I didn’t want to freak out on them because I thought they were saying something about me and my girlfriend. I wanted to get more information and understand the situation. But before I could, I was knocked out,” Quade said.

Quade says the next thing he remembers is waking up in an ambulance.

“I think of this as a hate crime. It’s that simple,” Bakre said

The couple says they’ve felt discrimination before, but never anything like this.

“The worst we’ve had is people staring or talking about us. But it has never gotten to the level of physical contact until now,” Bakre said.

Police say they are reviewing surveillance video and talking to witnesses. The couple still can’t understand why someone would do this.

“I can’t wrap my mind around what logical reason they would have,” Quade said.

The couple insists they did nothing to provoke the attack.

“I just hope they get caught. I really hope justice prevails. This should not happen in this day and age. I know we’re in the South, but it is time for a change,” Bakre said.

Detroit: Student asked if he was Jewish brutally beaten, gets mouth stapled shut

A Michigan State University student was attacked at an off-campus party by two men who asked if he was Jewish, and when he said he was, punched him and then stapled his mouth.

“They told Zach that they didn’t like African-Americans and they didn’t like Jews. They were members of the KKK. They were neo-Nazis, and they were going to be putting a hurt on him,” Zach’s father Bruce told MyFox DetroiWA

Despite all that, police don’t want to call it a hate crime.

Israel Hayom – DETROIT — A Michigan State University student said he was attacked at an off-campus party by two men who asked if he was Jewish, and when he said he was, punched him and then stapled his mouth.

CBS Detroit reported that Zachary Tennen, a 19-year-old sophomore in MSU’s journalism program, said he was at a house party on the 500 block of Spartan Avenue early Sunday morning when two men approached him and asked if he was Jewish. When he responded “Yes,” the two men raised their arms into a Nazi salute and said “Heil Hitler” before knocking him unconscious, according to Tennen’s mother, Tina.

“They told Zach that they didn’t like African-Americans and they didn’t like Jews. They were members of the KKK. They were neo-Nazis, and they were going to be putting a hurt on him,” Zachary’s father Bruce told MyFox Detroit.

Bruce Tennen also said Zachary saw a guy pull out an office stapler.

“He recalls waking up and seeing a stapler, that they were stapling his gums and trying to hurt him and that he felt he was going to die,” Bruce said.

About 20 people reportedly watched as the men proceeded to staple Zachary’s mouth shut at the lips and gums. His jaw was broken in two places during the attack.

“They knocked me down really hard … and I assumed someone would help me,” Zachary said in a statement. “But after some guys at the house basically kicked me out, I had to get a cab.”

Zachary hailed a cab and went to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing for treatment. After jaw surgery, he is home in the Detroit suburb of Franklin recovering, MyFox reported.

“It’s shameful that in 21st century America, such religious hatred exists in our country,” Zachary said in a statement emailed to The Associated Press. “No one should ever be subjected to the horror I experienced.”

But police in East Lansing said Tuesday the incident probably isn’t a hate crime, and neither police nor Tennen’s statement provided details about the attack, including how many people were present.

East Lansing police did not return several calls from The Associated Press asking for more information. The department’s statement said the assault was “not likely a hate crime,” but did not explain the criteria for classifying a case as a hate crime or why the Tennen assault did not rise to that level.

The statement said police have located two witnesses and identified a potential suspect, who “does not live in the area.”

Taliban cut off the heads of 17 people

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton consider the Taliban as partners in peace. It matters not to them that the Taliban is not interested in anything but lopping off the heads of infidels or anyone who doesn’t toe their line.

ABC News – Insurgents attacked a large party in a Taliban-controlled area of southern Afghanistan and beheaded 17 people, officials said on Monday.

The head of the local government initially said the victims were civilians at a celebration late Sunday involving music and dancing in the Musa Qala district of Helmand province. The official, Neyamatullah Khan, said the Taliban killed the party-goers for flouting the extreme brand of Islam embraced by the militants.

However, a provincial government official said later that those killed were caught up in a fight between two Taliban commanders over two women, who were among the dead. Daoud Ahmadi, a spokesman for the provincial government, said shooting broke out during the fight. He said it was unclear whether the music and dancing triggered the violence and whether the dead were all civilians or possibly included some fighters.

Ahmadi said all of the bodies were decapitated but it was not clear if they had been shot first.

In other violence, two American soldiers were shot and killed by one of their Afghan colleagues in the east, military officials said. Afghan officials said the killings appeared to be accidental, however NATO would not comment on the question of whether the killings were intentional or accidental.

The Taliban has controlled large parts of the district of Musa Qala, an area encompassing more than 100 villages, since 2001. They enforce the same strict interpretation of Islamic law that was imposed on all of Afghanistan during Taliban rule of Afghanistan from 1996-2001.

U.S. Marines have battled the Taliban for years in Musa Qala, but the insurgent group still wields in significant power in the area as international forces across the country draw down and hand over control to Afghan forces. Helmand province, where Musa Qala is located, is one of the areas seeing the largest reduction in U.S. troops. The U.S. started reducing forces from a peak of nearly 103,000 last year, and plans to have 68,000 troops by October.

Many Afghans and international observers have expressed concerns that the Taliban will try to re-impose strict Islamic justice as international forces withdraw. Under the Taliban, all music and film was banned as un-Islamic, and women were barred from leaving their homes without a male family member as an escort.

An Iraqi man hailed as a hero for helping U.S. soldiers in Iraq is one of five Iraqis accused of rape-related charges after a woman suffered serious injuries during a sex assault in Colorado Springs.

Jasim Mohammed Hassin Ramadon, 22, was charged with sexual assault and being an accessory after he was arrested Tuesday in connection with the July 22 attack.

Soldiers said they met Ramadon in 2003, when he pleaded with them to arrest him in exchange for key information about local insurgents.

Ramadon was featured in “A Soldier’s Promise,” a combat memoir by Army First Sgt. Daniel Hendrex, published in 2009, that detailed his relationship with Ramadon as a teenager who risked his life to provide information to U.S. soldiers deployed in Husaybah, a town in Al Anbar Province of Iraq.

During an interview months ago on KOAA-TV in Colorado Springs ( http://goo.gl/rxeTF), Ramadon said his mother told him to help the Americans. When he tried to return, she told him he had to go back to the soldiers or be killed. His Army protectors said Ramadon ultimately turned over 40 insurgents to the Americans, including his father.

Several soldiers interviewed by KOAA-TV said Ramadon was brought to the United States for his help and he settled in Colorado Springs, where the Army unit was based at Fort Carson.

Ramadon said he got into trouble at school in Colorado Springs after students started calling him a terrorist.

“I didn’t know how to react, so I started getting into fights,” he said.

He later married and had a child.

Lt. Howard Black said Wednesday the attack on the woman was “one of the most horrific assaults I have ever seen.” He refused to provide other details.

Court documents said the woman told police she heard a disturbance outside her apartment while getting the mail and intervened. Afterward, she said she was invited to the apartment of one of the men where she was given lemonade and then passed out. Authorities said she suffered serious internal injuries from an attack.

The El Paso District Attorney’s Office said charges are pending against others arrested in the case, including Sarmad Fadhi Mohammed, accused of sexual assault and being an accessory, and Mustafa Sataar Al Feraji, Ali Mohammed Hasan Al Juboori, and Yasir Jabbar Jasim, accused of being accessories. They were each being held on $250,000 bond.

Court records indicate Ramadon has a public attorney. It was not known if the other suspects had legal representation.

An Army spokesman said Hendrex now lives in Ft. Meade, Md. He did not return calls seeking comment.

Video: 6 black teens arrested for beating the crap out of a white guy because they were bored

Black on white beatings are going on all over the place, but they are always ignored by the major media outlets. If it were the other way around, every incident would be leading the nightly news. WND – Six teens arrested recently in the Cincinnati, Ohio, suburb of North College Hill for beating 45-year-old Pat Mahaney reportedly told police they ambushed the man because they were bored.

Mahaney, who was walking to his mother’s home when he was blindsided by the group of teens and left unconscious, spent four days in intensive care. One of the attackers allegedly threw a beer can at Mahaney’s head. Mahaney is reportedly unemployed and lacks health insurance.

WND previously has reported on the pattern of black-on-white violence throughout the country.

Now Cincinnati.com reports that local police were shocked at the behavior of the juveniles after their arrest.

“They were pretty arrogant in the interview with us,” said North College Hill Police Chief Gary Foust. “This appears to be premeditated and there was no remorse on behalf of the assailants.”

WND obtained records of activity from the Facebook page of one of the young assailants. Lamont Champion, 13 and heavily tattooed, wrote after a report of the attack was featured on local news, “MAN WE WAS JUST ON THE NEWS FOE HITTIN DAT MAN OMG BRA WE BOUT TO GET SUM TIME WE WAS ON DA NEWS IDK WADD TO DO MAN D— I GOT TO MUCH S— PLANNED AN ON MY MINE (LMS) TO PRAY FOE US…”

His comment received 50 “likes.”

Champion also commented on Facebook after his release from jail, “FINALLY MAN IM OUT BRA I GOT COURT DOE IDK WEN BUT I DO HOPE DEY AINT GNE PUT ME IN DER FOE AH MIN… IM SALTY DEY SNITCHED ON ME J****** D**** DEY ALL SAID U DID MAN….. [name redacted]”

Several of Champion’s Facebook followers commented on his post decrying the possibility that someone had reported them to police. One, Michael James, another alleged attacker, openly discussed details of the attack, writing that he and his co-assailants “beat dis dudee upp ‘badd.’”

She wasn’t so sure. But he won her over, and the couple sealed their budding romance with a kiss at the Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop in Hyde Park.

So goes the story of how Michelle and Barack Obama fell in love in 1989. And on Wednesday, a historical marker went up at the corner of Dorchester Avenue and 53rd Street noting the exact location where the couple had their first smooch.

As landscapers added the finishing touches, placing orange impatiens around the boulder placed in a flower bed near the entrance of the Dorchester Commons shopping center, curious residents trickled by to snap pictures.

The 3,000-pound granite boulder, commissioned by the owners of Dorchester Commons, was 2 1/2 years in the making, according to Jonelle Kearney, a spokeswoman for Mid-America Asset Management, which manages the shopping center. She said the idea came about after several queries from visitors.

“It’s a marker for the community, for posterity and tourism, too,” she said.

Linda Swift, 67, said the marker gives tourists another reason to visit Hyde Park, the Obamas’ old stomping ground. It’s not far from the Hyde Park Hair Salon on Blackstone Avenue, where the barber chair Obama used to sit in to get his hair cut is on display, enclosed in glass.

“We’ve got (Nation of Islam leader) Elijah Muhammad’s house, Frank Lloyd Wright houses, the barbershop and now this,” said Swift, who walked up the block with her camera after a friend stopped by and told her about the marker. “Now I can bring tourists to see this too.”

A revealing moment came Monday, when Obama told a tent of drinkers at the Iowa State Fair that he’d buy a round of beers for 10 people, but not for one person carrying a sign of support for Gov. Mitt Romney.

At the beer tent, the drinkers “started chanting, ‘four more beers!’” according to the pool report.

“Potus said, ‘I’ll tell you what, except for Romney sign, I’ll buy beers for ten people,’” the report added.

Obama also refused to eat pork cops until he asked for a knife and fork.

The vignettes are minor, but the 2012 race is so close that every angle counts.

In recent months, for example, Obama’s aides have said his personal likability ratings have bolstered his support among voters worried about the nation’s stalled economy, high unemployment and record deficits.

If Republicans ran an ad showing Obama (or any black Democrat) beating up white people and stealing money the media would go berserk. Where is the media calling “dog whistle?” Will Chris Matthews come on the air with his slavering outrage?

My guess is that not only will the idiotic, lie-infested ad backfire on Florida Democrats, it will send millions of conservative and Independent dollars Colonel West’s way. Liberalism is truly a mental disease.

Shark Tank – The American Sunrise PAC has launched its first attack ad against Congressman Allen West. The political action committee was founded by the father of Congressman West’s general election opponent Democrat Patrick Murphy.

Thomas Murphy Jr. is the CEO of a Miami-based Coastal Construction Group, and he has already kicked in $250,000(Source) into the PAC. But now those funds have been employed in the creation of a questionable ad that depicts West as a boxer who smacks around women and takes money away from middle class families.

The ad slyly uses a caricature of West and portrays him as a bully who hits women – more specifically, a white women – while he grabs money away from a “middle class” family that just happens to be a black family.

It’s a typically misleading ad from a liberal SuperPAC against a principled conservative – of course, it’s always women and minorities who are hardest hit by conservatives’ policies – never mind that it’s West who is the one on the front lines trying to bring an end to our fiscal recklessness and entitlement mentality that Democrats will give their last breath to defend.

(Fox News) — The election of a Sudanese warlord accused of genocide to the United Nations Human Rights Council is now virtually guaranteed, since he has the full backing of the world body’s African delegation.

The International Criminal Court has issued a warrant for Omar Al-Bashir — its first ever for a sitting head of state — for crimes against humanity he allegedly committed in Darfur. Yet, his regime is set to take its place on the panel, in the latest bizarre appointment to make a mockery of the UN’s human rights credibility, according to critics.

Neuer’s Geneva-based group is calling on UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay to denounce election of the war-torn North African nation to the 47-member body. Sudan is not technically on the panel, but its election is a certainty because only five African nations are vying for the continent’s five seats.

Membership to the Council is open to all member states and secret-ballot elections are held every year, according to a UN website. Upon election, states serve three-year terms and are not eligible for immediate re-election after serving two consecutive terms.

The Blaze – The Senate Budget Committee Republican staff under Ranking Member Jeff Sessions [R-AL] on Wednesday released this depressing chart.

Are you serious? Over 110,000,000* in the U.S. are currently receiving some form of government welfare?

“The federal government administers nearly 80 different overlapping federal means-tested welfare programs. Social Security and Medicare are not part of this category and not included in the figures in this chart,” a statement released on Wednesday by Sen. Sessions’ office reads.

“[S]ince 2000 Medicaid has increased from 34 million people to 54 million in 2011 and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, or food stamps) from 17 million to 45 million in 2011,” according to a statement released on Wednesday by Sen. Sessions’ office.

But here’s our favorite part: “Spending on food stamps alone is projected to reach nearly $800 billion over the next decade.”

Oh, $800 billion. Great, that’s, uh, swell.

The statement continues:

These figures include not only citizens, but non-citizens as well. For instance, USDA has acknowledged a formal partnership with Mexico to boost food stamp enrollment amongst non-citizens, migrant workers and foreign nationals.  In a ‘radio novela’ USDA even depicted an individual who resisted food stamp enrollment (saying her husband earned enough to take care of them) but who was successfully pressured into enrollment.

Yep. Non-citizens enrolled in the Mexico-U.S. food stamp program. That is all.

Nigeria: Islamists storm church, massacre at least 16

Boko Haram again? Most likely.

IT was like a scene from a war film. A crowd of worshippers in a church — perhaps praying, their eyes shut — and suddenly the eerie sounds of guns. Pandemonium. Blood, tears and anguish.

But it was no movie. All was real last night in Okene, Kogi State where unknown gunmen stormed a church and opened fire on worshippers, killing no fewer than 16.

Killed were worshippers of Deeper Life Bible Church opposite the Federal College of Education (FCE). Many were injured.

“We are shocked. It is serious,” a Pastor told The Nation last night.

The gunmen, who were said to be bearing sophisticated weapons, stormed the church during the Bible Study, a Monday programme, at about 7p.m., shooting indiscriminately.

The gunmen reportedly took the worshippers by surprise. They blocked all entrances into the church, preventing people from escaping as they fired indiscriminately at the worshippers.

A source said 15 worshippers died on the spot; one died in the hospital.

Video: Syrian rebels convert Japanese reporter to Islam

It’s highly doubtful that the guy knew what was going on. One must wonder, however, that if he did know, and then refused to participate what would have become of him. Worse yet, if he had refused by insisting he was a Christian or a Jew. In that case, the video might have become jihadi porn. In any case, he now has a new name – “Mustafa” – which in Arabic means, “useful idiot.”

In an apparent prank uploaded to YouTube last week, a band of armed Syrian rebels stand around a man bearing a camera who is identified as a Japanese reporter and convince him to utter the shahada, the Muslim declaration of creed required for conversion.

The Free Syrian Army is not only in the rebellion business. Some of its members seem to be in the practical joke business, too.

In an apparent prank uploaded to YouTube last week, a band of armed Syrian rebels stand around a man bearing a camera who is identified as a Japanese reporter and convince him to utter the shahada, the Muslim declaration of creed required for conversion.

A man off-camera announces that “a Japanese journalist is professing his conversion to the religion of Islam” under the auspices of their rebel brigade, situated on Mount Turkmen, outside Latakia.

The Japanese reporter then repeats the shahada‘s declaration that there is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his messenger. According to Islam, an earnest pronouncement of the shahada is the only requirement to convert to Islam.

Whether or not the “conversion” is in earnest is not immediately obvious, but seems highly unlikely. The camera-bearing, bespectacled young Japanese man gives no sign of knowing what he is saying, and certainly undergoes no evident spiritual experience. Still, he seems fairly cheerful about the whole process, his facial expression switching from initial inscrutability to subsequent mild smiling.

The rebel instructing the reporter seems barely able to restrain his laughter, and several of his companions are beaming from ear to ear.

After a ringing Allahu Akbar, the rebels ask the man his name and he is instructed to reply: “Mustafa.”

Breaking: Mass shooting at Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin

Here we go again.

Not many facts right now. As usual, a lot of conflicting stories at this time. Reports says the shooter was a white male, with a heavy build, bald head and wearing a sleeveless T-shirt. He is said to be down, but there may be more than one shooter…

In case you don’t know, Sikhs are not Muslims, though they are sometimes mistaken by idiots as Muslims because of the men wear turbans and beards. They are peaceful and don’t bother anyone.

UPDATE:

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel – At least four people were shot just after 10 a.m. Sunday at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, and a police SWAT team entered the building before noon and brought uninjured people out of the building at 7512 S. Howell Ave.

Around noon, they started removing injured people from the temple’s prayer room.

SWAT team members were still sweeping the building about 1 p.m. and an explosion was heard from the building at that time.

The first officer on the scene encountered an active shooter and exchanged fire with him, according to Greenfield Police Chief Bradley Wentlandt.

The shooter went down and the officer was hit multiple times, but is expected to survive, said Wentland, who is acting as police spokesman for the incident.

Among those who were shot was the president of the temple, Satwant Kaleka, who was taken to a hospital.

Deepinder Dhaliwal said Kaleka, his brother in law, was shot in the back, but has now been taken to a hospital in St. Francis.

Dhaliwal said his sister, the president’s wife, called him while hiding inside the building with a few other women.

Dick Katschke, a spokesman for the Medical College of Wisconsin, said three adult males were being treated at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa. One of the three was undergoing surgery in the intensive care ward. Another is in an operating room. And the third is being treated in the emergency room, Katschke said.

All three were being treated for gunshot wounds.

People were in the temple as early as 6:30 a.m. Sunday and many more were arriving for a service that was to begin about 11:30 a.m.

There were reports that children were taken away from the area of the building where the shooting took place after shots were fired.

Someone who sent a text message to a Journal Sentinel reporter shortly before noon said that there were two shooters with children possibly as hostages.
