Leftist intimidation forces two keynote speakers to cancel

In the past couple of days there have been two different, but related events that should worry anyone who believes in free speech, which is why the state-run media will ignore these stories for the most part.

First, as The Hill reports, George Bush was forced to cancel the keynote address he was to give at a Jewish group’s charity gala on Feb. 12 in Geneva because Leftist groups had planned to protest the visit, and several human rights groups had also filed criminal complaints against him, demanding that he be taken into custody if he stepped on Swiss soil and investigated for allegations of ordering torture.

According to Reuters, a right-wing member of the Swiss parliament also demanded last week Bush’s arrest on war crimes allegations if he came to the country.

Jazz Shaw at Hotair notes that, “in the end, the most damage would not have been done to Bush, but to the charitable organization trying to conduct their fundraising. It appears that this was taken into consideration and the former president chose not to hamper their work by canceling the trip entirely.”

This is no doubt true, but no less sad, and bad. But it is also hardly surprising coming from Europe, a continent that is, and always has been criminally insane, as their blood soaked, hate-filled history clearly proves.

But worse, because it is America, another prominent Republican and key note speaker, this one a conservative, was also forced to pull out of a charity gala.

This gala was to be held in Glendale, CO, and to benefit The Pacheco Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing resources to military families and at-risk youth.

The speaker was to be Sarah Palin, and she had to cancel because of “safety concerns” and an “onslaught of personal attacks”.

This is how the Left works. They use fear and intimidation to target anyone whose views they disagree with, and try to shut down free speech, in the name of free speech, of course.

Leftists can move about the world without fear or bodyguards. They can speak on any college campus and never worry that they will be assaulted by mobs of rabid ‘right-wingers’.

But, if you are a conservative today, or the least bit controversial because of your disagreements with the Left, you need a body guard and must be extremely careful.

Just ask David Horowitz or Ann Coulter or Glen Beck or Geert Wilders, or dozens of other prominent personalities who dare to question Leftist or Islamic ideologies. And it isn’t the rare appearance, either. It is routine.

The media always ignores the attacks on conservatives, thereby applauding them with their silence.

The more that the Left sees they can get away with these tactics, the more they will use them. Their use of fear and intimidation is no less despicable than that of the terrorists. The Left in America is truly dangerously deranged, and their madness will become ever more apparent over the next two years. Just watch.
